Well Mel, the plant is about 25 cm tall. I call that short. It is nice to have, but I do not plan on getting any more. I am really happy for this little plant that he has done so well.
I didn’t want it at first, and just said “no”, but when it looked up at me and said, “Je suis orphelin”, I am afraid I just caved-in.

    That's beautiful, Sjoerd!

I have a few helleborus around. They are a favorite food of slugs here, so I grow them as treats for my little slimy friends.

OK, maybe that's not my real intent. I need to be more diligent with the slug bait. Deer and rabbits avoid hellebores here, chickens and ducks don't touch them (some are poisonous?) but like Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say, "If it's not one thing, it's another" LOL.

I also bought this one at the grocery-and-everything store last week. It's not planted yet.

It needs a nice spot on a slope, maybe, so I can better appreciate the nodding flowers. They are a welcome harbinger of Spring.

I am with Mel— that is a very lovely colour. I hope that it will do well for you in that special spot. You will have to show it again once it is situated.
BTW— what made you buy it, did you have a spot that needed filling or did you get it on a whim? Were you adding to your collection? I am just a curious person.:D

I was in the outdoor part of the store, looking for potting soil. I heard this tiny little voice crying out, "Buy me! Buy me! There is nobody who will love me and care for me like you will". I looked around, where was that voice coming from? Who could it be? Then again, "Over here! Please take me home with you! I will make you happy!".

So I bought it. I don't think it knows about slugs yet. I will try to do better.

That Helleborus is a cutie, @Sjoerd! I would have taken it too if it were offered to me. Enjoy it! (If you let it self-seed you might get some other colours than the one you have. They can make a lot of new plants if you let them.)

@Daniel W we have some similar to the one you're showing. I like the variegated foliage, and also the extra height to that particular Helleborus strain.

Daniel, you are just a big softie, like me. Haha. No penalties.

Droopy— I have been letting it do what it likes. Whatever it wants, it can do.

Yes something like it, because they're not always the same. I might have a white one but i haven't looked lately.

Loggie— that one is quite lovely too. I thought that you had posted a pic once of a white one. Oh well, it is quite a fancy- looking one.

Thanks and it's ok Sjoerd I've found one that's got a lot of speckles.
