Droopy….Really amazing pic . Llike the use of the shadows and light from the candles. Are the candles in floating ice holders. Great idea for a creative perspective with color and light.
Thanks! Nothing floating and just ordinary candles. I couldn't find the type I wanted, and the ones I found was a bit big for my ice lanterns, but I had to use them anyway. Ice lanterns are so easy to make. We wait for at least -4C, fill up plastic bowls with water and leave them outside until the top has a 3-5 cm thick layer of ice. Then we turn the bowls upside-down, get the chunk of ice out, carefully make a hole in what was the bottom but now's the top, empty out the water, set the lanterns where we want them, and put a candle inside. They're good for a few days, depending on temps and candle type, but they look ever so good while they last. In my opinion that's the only useful thing we can use freezing temps for.
Droopy.. wow creative candle holders.. it looks so cool. I could imagine them made in larger mold adding bigger colored red candles lining the entry steps . They seem so magical. I really like them.. thank you for the explanation on making them.. what a nice surprise.
Do these guys count as things in the snow? Honestly they ate all the berries off the strawberry tree/Arbutus unedo.
This definitely qualifies for things in the snow, only it's not from today, but last Saturday. If this had been from today you wouldn't see anything but the top of the bucket because of the snow. Ice, ice, baby: We always leave the hose running in winter to keep the water at the stables from freezing. We've had that happen a couple of times. Not fun to have to carry 100+ liters of water every day. The horses have a 140 liters heated water trough that keeps the water at a temp of around 5°C. They drink a lot from it, so we need to be able to use a hose to change the water every day. This bucket also serves as a drinking station for the birds. The stable cats like it too.
The birds in my garden are waiting for me every morning. If I'm late they sit in the trees ready to pounce on the food as soon as I put it out. Reminds me a bit of the Alfred Hitchcock film!!.
