Good Friday morning all - literally! Currently -2°C and a mix of sun and snow squalls. I don't think the snow will add up to anything.
I thought I would wake up sore this morning, but other than my usual pains, I feel just fine. So far I've walked the dog, brought in firewood, and emptied the dishwasher. I stopped myself so that I could sit and enjoy a coffee. Since I'll be back to work full time on Tuesday, I feel a sense of urgency about all the things I have to do around here. Since today is a cold and windy day, I'll be inside working on reports, my taxes, my seedlings etc. Tomorrow is our Family Easter dinner, so that leaves Sunday and Monday to clean up the rest of my gardens. At this pace, I'll be too tired to go to work on Tuesday haha
Glad I could be of help!
Have a great day all :)

This was an exciting morning - it was the first time that we did not go below freezing last night. :) The driveway is muddy but bare, and the ploughed areas of the yard are showing brown. The large rocks and rail way ties in the tiered flower gardens next to the house are melting from solar power. The yard is full of robins and the feeder is a constant shift of Grosbeaks, Red Winged Black Birds, and Finches. It may be our first rain/thunder storm which with the warmer winds will cause a lot of melt. Dare I say it....I think spring is here. :flower::stew1::stew2:

Good Friday, and finally it is a good Friday. We have had power loss off and on for three days, with cold meals, wearing jackets indoors, and being generally fussy. The power company finally sent someone out who looked at the transformer, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it. We may have a hot dinner tonight, and a strong possibility of Easter dinner being something other than cold ham sandwiches!
I must say, the solar lanterns were life-savers. We could have enough light at night to see our way around, and although they were almost out of power, they still gave off a comforting and helpful glow. If you are prone to power outages, I highly recommend getting solar lanterns.
Hope you all have a good and powerful Friday!

Yes, I have a plethora of camping solar gadgets and battery banks plus cooking and heating options I keep stocked since I no longer have wood heat back ups. Electricity is nice :)

Busy day of putting together metal raised beds, trellises and trying to figure out where in the heck I transplanted hostas last August. Enjoyed a day without rain.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -5°C and sunny. It sure was a beautiful dog walk this morning!
Today we are supposed to be having our family Easter dinner here. Last night my daughter sent me a text that 2 out of 3 grandkids had come down with a fever. I sure hope they are feeling better today, and that we can go ahead with our dinner.
I was out in the garden later yesterday, and cut down 2 big beds of last years stalks. I left a huge pile out on the grass that I want to burn. Kinda hoping DH wants to do that today while I am cooking turkey haha
Have a great day all :)

Today is a low key day. It is over cast, plus 5 C and a bit drizzly off and on. The house smells like fresh baked bread and cookies. Perfect day for a word game and mugs of tea with Hubby, then a quilt and a movie.

The past few days has been a break out for some song birds, sapsuckers and tiny finches. Of course the hummers are always trying to chase any bird 20’ near their feeders. And with all the chipmunks and squirrels… are giving the hummers a real run .
Marlingardener I have had solar blow up lamps I keep just for power outages. Keep them charged just flatten them pop on sunny window when needed blow them up seal the air inside . They have a hand,e to carry around or snails that the handle can be attached to anything. I also bring in all the yard solar lights. No candles needed.

Pacnorwest, those inflatable lanterns are the type we have. We received the first as a freebie from the power company. Reassuring that! We purchased three more and have shown them to anyone who might need them, which in this part of the woods is just about everyone.
Today in the kitchen preparing for Easter dinner. We aren't religious, but we do like to eat! I may sneak out while the rolls rise and pot up a basil or two. My dear husband is thinking of mowing the back yard, since it isn't raining now and none is predicted for today.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 4°C and sunny.
    Happy Easter to everyone!
We had a lovely dinner yesterday, despite the fact we had 1 feverish child and 1 adult with upset stomach.
Today is dedicated to yard work, theres lots of cleanup to do!
Have a great day all :)

That is the first time I've heard of a Blow Up lantern! Wow. I'll have to look for those. We take our solar lights camping with us - to put around the tent or camper, and light up any tripping obstacles. They are a bit bulky. What a great idea!

Good Monday morning all. Currently 6°C and sunny.
A productive day in the yard yesterday, and I hope for another productive day today. I still have a few gardens to get raked out and some fruit trees to prune.
But first, I have some beans soaking so I'll have to get them canned up and put into the pantry.
Have a great day all :)

It is great to have those types of chores to do again, isn’t it.

Good morning to you all! Today we are planting our sugar snap peas and getting the bell peppers and one variety of tomatoes in the ground (we hope, if we don't tire out!).
After cooking so much yesterday, we are having left-overs for lunch. I'll rev up and make a decent dinner. Husband deserves it--he is currently out foraging at the grocery. We have learned that if it's available, and won't expire before we use it, get it!
Hope you have a good day, and successful foraging.
