New Volunteer in garden

This is the first year for this volunteer, about 10 inches tall - the multi-color is unusual.

Any guesses?

If it had spotted leaves I would have suggested Pulmonaria, but...............?

 

That is a member of the Borage family. Mertensia virginica . It's lovely!

 

Frank that is a beautiful example of the many good surprises waiting for us in our gardens. Very pretty

Should have recognised that, I used to grow it. My excuse is that it was a long long time ago though.

 

I know them as Virginia Bluebells. Very pretty!

I believe it grows on rhizomes, and you should have it in the soil by now. I have never grown it myself, but it sure is tempting, and hardy!
