Hi all, A friend recently introduced us to Merlin, a free bird id app from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. I had tried it before without much luck, but my friend clued me in: when using the sound id, you have to be q-u-i-e-t. Shhhh.....no talking or walking. It also doesn't work so well in highly trafficked areas or on very windy days. I've been loving it. It's really helping us to id birds by their calls. I sit outside in the garden, having lunch & listening to the birds. During our trip out west, when we needed a break during hiking, we'd turn it on.... Many different birds out there of course, as opposed to the east coast of US. It is aptly named: Merlin. Feels like magic to me. Had anyone else tried this or a different bird sound app?
Haven’t tried it yet, but I did down load it. Thanks. I have been using PeakFinder for finding out which mountains I am looking at when hiking or out and about.
