What have you done today in the Garden?

The smoke is part of the Pacific Northwest way of life now. I'm so sad about it. I feel for you.

 

Here's the Hardy Kiwi that I bought at the big box store. It wasn't possible to look into the box at the store. The box was about 18 inches tall. The plant is about 3 inches tall! And not looking very happy!



I planted it in a seedling flowerpot, where it can get some TLC. It will be in the shade until (if) it starts to look better.



Today I planted more bean seeds, zinnias, celosia, cosmos, cilantro, mesclun. The rest of the echinacea are in their "nursery rows".



I don't expect them to bloom this year.
i hope they grow to a good size for next year.

The "Extreme Bush" tomatoes got some leaf mulch.



I filled another planter container and 3/4 of the next one. Two more to go after that. I will be very relieved to complete that project.

Just a bit of clematis tying up and a lot of watering.

Our pink wisteria has made a bit of an effort, but no more than in previous years.




As I've stopped any further growth along the side wall and pruned back several new branches, maybe it'll make the effort to consolidate itself and do better next year.

 

Today is a rainy day so all garden activities will be paused LOL

 

I'm grateful for bad weather days that force me to stay inside!

 

Well, it's done! I rushed, and some aspects could have been better, at least the looks. I don't think that will harm function.



Now the peppers are all planted. I don't have to worry about them drying out in their small flower pots. The leaf mulch will help with water retention and weed prevention.

Today I hand pollinated the pawpaws.
I pruned some lilacs that were way too tall. I also started thinning apples and peaches. With the hard work of the planter box completed, I can catch up on other stuff and get back to puttering.

The irrigation system is next.

 

That bag container looks splendid. It all looks so very smart.
I am jealous that you can grow paw-paws. Gawsh, I love them.

 

Sjoerd, pawpaw trees can grow here but they rarely bear fruit. Sometimes pollinating by hand is helpful but it's mostly wishful thinking. Still, I try.

 

I admire tenacity. I find it virtuous.
Well, if you get a fruit, you must feature it on here.

 

Planted my squashes Prolific & Sweetnut also the Zucchini. Plan on doing the cukes and flowers later.

I need to plant my courgettes too. My Bride is even more antsy to get them in than I am.
I hope that your squashes and zucs do well for you this year.

 

@Sjoerd I hope so too. I took a break from them for 2 years after having a squash bug problem. It was the first time in all my years dealing those buggers.
