Pacnorwest, we are fortunate in that we are out of the path of the severe storms and tornadoes. We also still have power!
Sjoerd, it's so easy to have amazing posts when you are in Texas. Something amazing happens at least once a day. Go ahead and chuckle. We live here and still chuckle a lot!

Well Marlin, your weather frightens me a little. I worry that it may break out and come this way.

@marlingardener - I would struggle to live somewhere that had tornado risks. You have my deepest respect....and worry.

I wish I could send a little rain your way Sjoerd. I must say that I have been very grateful for the last two weeks of cool wet temperatures. We woke up to seeing fresh snow on the mountain sides yesterday, and they have had travel advisories for the mountain passes. The campers have some fun stories to tell I'm certain. :)

We are supposed to move into more seasonal highs of the low twenties and lows of 8 -10 C for the next ten days or so. The gardens will welcome a little warmth. Today is pickling asparagus and baking bread for the freezer before the weather warms up.

Melody, don't worry about us--we've never experienced a tornado. I do appreciate your respect--we get so little of it here in Texas!

Mel, that would be very nice. It would be welcome. Snow on the mountain slopes—what an idea! I can’t get my head around that.

Good Thursday afternoon all. Currently 29°C and sunny. I had another busy day, preparing the resort for 2 weddings this weekend. I got all the grass cut and trimmed and it looks lovely, so tomorrow I will water water water. This heat has been hard on me and the gardens! The Rose garden is in full bloom so the brides this weekend are very lucky.
I'm heading out soon to water my gardens.
Have a great day all :)

Netty I have always been curious but did not want to be rude in asking. You are a landscaper/groundskeeper?....angel and talented gardening human being :) that gives joy and beauty to others?? It fits. :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 20°C and overcast.
Yesterday turned out to be a great day ... it rained! This cut my work load down substantially, so I was able to get a lot of smaller tasks done. I love when that happens on a Friday!
Last night I got a message from my neighbor that one of her huge Maple trees split and part fell across the road. None of us heard a thing!
@Melody Mc. - Yes, I am the gardener/grounds keeper at a local resort! We do weddings and conference groups as well as families and regular travelers. Its been my home away from home for 24 years :)
Rain in the forecast today, so I doubt I'll get my grass cut. But theres lots to do around the house so I'll be 'puttering'.
Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 17°C and overcast. I'm actually not sure if its overcast, or hazy from the forest fires. Either way, its not sunny.
I had a very productive day yesterday! I got a load of veggie starts delivered to a friend, and then a load of old windows picked up for DD's window greenhouse project. After a quick visit with the grandkids, I came home and got the grass cut and trimmed. A passing torrential rain storm sent me running for the shelter of the greenhouse, where I got the remaining plants watered and then the greenhouse tidied up. I got 7 lilac runners dug up out of the back garden and potted up for DD's yard. I then got one side of the back bed weeded, edged and annuals planted. All the raised beds are weeded in the veggie garden, all that is left is the 2 rows of asparagus and the currents to weed.
Todays jobs are to harvest the garlic scapes (and make potato salad!) , trim the 3 spiraeas, and the 6 boxwoods. But first, COFFEE! haha
Have a great day all :)

Yes Netty, that was a VERY productive day! Your energy amazes me (and others, I'm sure).
It's Sunday and we are taking it relatively easy. Husband is putting the deck back on the riding mower after sharpening the blades, and I'm doing table linen laundry. All those napkins to fold, oh my!
Two more cucumbers to add to our refrigerator stash. I'll look up my refrigerator pickle recipe and make a batch, perhaps.
Hope you all have a relaxing and productive day--except for Netty who doesn't seem to know the meaning of "relax" but really knows the meaning of "productive".

You see Netty’s hard working nature clearly. She puts us all to shame.
    Congrats on more cues.

Here the weather is atrocious, so we are inside at the minute. We may venture out this evening. I do not know. It is set to be into the 30’s until late.

Outside our door there is the annual Iron Man contest going on. There have been ten ambulances sent out to help participants and spectators alike.
