Good day to you all! A day off from making marinara sauce, so I'm catching up on cleaning the house. My, how that dust accumulates!
Pacnorwest, I sympathize--we are in the middle of a heat wave, with the electric grid asking customers to conserve electricity. It seems to be a surprise to them that it gets hot in Texas in the summertime.
I hope you all have a decently comfortable day,

Ahhhh good planning, there’s nothing like it. Good thing it isn’t a yearly occurring problem, aye?

Marlin the heat in Texas is very different than here. Family lives in Austin and when I visit the heat just knocks the air outta ya.. literally. Everyone rushes from the parking lot to inside air conditioned stores and vice versa. The powers that be in Texas need to fix the power grids . Texas has all those wonderful freeways from oil money time to stop the suffering of many and of the elderly and improve the grid. I see them on the news very sad.

Just for reference.. Portland is suing the oil companies due to an extreme heat wave we had here . Who wudda thought?

Oddly enough it was 99’ here yesterday I didn’t need the air on . It was comfortable . The trees shade the house and never in direct sun. I run fans in the rooms needed. Just like the reverse to save on heating oil in winter keep the rooms lived in comfortable. I got so fed up with air conditioning always having issues …so even though it works if I need it I will use it.

    Stay cool..

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 17°C and sunny.
I've had my dog walk and watered the garden, now its time for my coffee. I can not believe how much my veggie garden has grown in the past few days!! Incredible!! I think it must be that fabulous mushroom compost I added this spring.
Today, my neighbour and I are heading out on an adventure ... our areas garden tour is today! We will be viewing 8 beautiful local gardens and you can bet there will be pictures! haha
Have a great day all :)

Good morning to you all! I'm going to disappear into the kitchen and make another vat of marinara sauce. The tomatoes just keep coming, and we are eating them and using them as fast as we can. In fact, last night my husband asked what was for dinner and requested "nothing red, please." Being a good wife, I put yellow cherry tomatoes in the salad.;)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 17°C and cloudy.
We had a great time viewing the 8 gardens on the garden tour yesterday! The last 3 were on acreage and were absolutely breathtaking! The amount of work going into these properties is simply amazing, and they were all working ladies like myself. Only one was retired. Photos to follow, but they do these gardens no justice!
Today, I have to fit 2 days work into one day! Laundry, grass, trimming, housework etc I hope to get my cucumber patch weeded as well.
Have a great day all :)

I know they will not do what you saw justice. I have that in my own world here, but they will give an idea and along with your commentary I shall feel like I was a ladybird on your shoulder throughout the tour.
I am so glad you had a good time with your mates. I mean…gardens. What’s not to like.

Finally a break so far with the rain in the northeast. Above normal rain for us. Lots of heavy downpours flooding etc. May be time to start growing rice. LOL

Good Monday afternoon all. Currently 27°C and sunny.
I had a busy day at work, and for some reason I've been craving orange juice and peach schnapps on ice all day. That is the second thing I did when I got home ... mixed myself a drink! So thirst quenching when its hot out, I have to be careful I don't drink it too fast and give myself the spins haha
Time to walk the dog, then make dinner and tomorrows lunches and then water the garden.
Have a great evening all :)

Netty—It is always so interesting reading your snapshot of the days’ doings. You have the right idea on rewarding yourself.

Today is an inside day with a couple of smokey days on the horizon. The weeds will wait a couple more days. :) My kids went together and bought me an air purifier for the house for Mother's Day. I'm a lucky Momma, and I'm grateful for it today.

Our heat warning ended yesterday with a much needed rain storm. Lots of thunder and lightening came along with it, but so far our near vicinity only has five fires. It is our turn to have a year off of evacuations after five tough years, but the other parts of our province are struggling. It is a bit mind boggling: our province has had 23,000 lightening strikes in the last two days, starting over 115 new fires. 200 of the 311 are out of control. Two more days of thunder are forecasted so fingers crossed for a lot of rain. It does not need to be the fatal "heat dome" of 2021 to be too hot and and make the forests and plains tinder dry.

This is a map of the fires as of today. It makes one take a step back. It certainly is a difficult time for many, and it is humbling. I'm grateful that we are home and well.

Good Tuesday afternoon all. Currently 22°C and overcast. It was a hot day, and now the clouds are rolling in and there is thunder in the distance.
After seeing the fire map above, I checked to see if there was one in Ontario, and there is! According to the website, there has been 420 fires in Ontario so far this year. Last years count for the entire year was only 115. There are currently 88 fires in northern Ontario, 7 of which are out of control. Yikes.
Heading out for my dog walk then dinner to make!
Have a great day all :)
