Not doing much today. I have a mandatory class until 2:30 (8:30-2:30). By that time it may too hot....so that leaves you guys. I will have to live vicariously through you today. I'm at lunch right now.

Daniel—My Bride especially thanks you for your answers. She wants to get a better grip on making our “sauce”.

As for the types we use— it is Roma’s and San Marzano’s for making the concentrate. The salad and hamburger types we grow are totally different types. Having said that, we sometimes use some of these “hand tomatos” to add to the sauce ones if we need more bulk weight.

Thanks again for your attention and expertise.

I still like the dahlia and bumble bee foto. That is simply stunning.

The beekeeping— I wonder about your lack of success. It is understandable that you are not keen to try again, plus as one gets older the work that has to be done seems heavier and heavier. Additionally, a lot of time and planning is required.

Wow! I miss one day and the raspberries go crazy! And there's more out there, but I can't reach them. My son is coming over later today to help harvest more potatoes so I'll let him reach them. Right now they're getting watered. I also have rosemary, oregano, chocolate mint and thyme drying in the garage. Some of those raspberries look lighter in the picture, then they really are. 16927120048654236563349170197459.jpg

Harvested more potatoes. The Yukon Gold had a couple huge ones. Usually we have about the same amount as the blackberry or huckleberry and about the size of the smaller ones. The fingerlings went crazy! Those were in a misc. potato bag. They were potatoes I saved for seed from last year. This year, they're all separated so I'll know what I'm planting next year. Two more bags. They're mid/late season (raspberry) and late season (wild purple). The 2 pictures that actually uploaded were the misc. bags. So here's a picture of half the yukon. Usually we get quite a few more. 16927185336318144541102934393531.jpg 16927196473311446846935706265862.jpg 16927230200026574228910874921969.jpg

Picked a zucchini, I'll grate it up for either bread or brownies. I'll ask my granddaughter which she wants.
I also made cheese today. I love this on toast with fresh blueberries or maybe I'll try it with raspberries. Since it's not real hot I may make a batch of jam. It's supposed to be up in the 1692737522697962613381087901934.jpg 16927374203221367041543236572310.jpg 100's tomorrow. Oh just noticed Minney, i thought she moved when i took the picture. Maybe she can, "help".

Thanks Sjoerd. I was happy with most of them. I was a little disappointed with the Yukon. They are my favorite so I'd rather have more smaller ones then a couple big ones plus few more. The two big ones must have absolutely loved the green sand.

I tried the Yukon Gold one year and had a similar result, namely few spuds but of great size. The taste was oké, but did not capture my fancy.
All-in-all though, your harvest gives you quite a few. You must be chuffed.

Yes, I'm very pleased with it. And I still have 2 more bags to harvest.
I went out early and watered my raised beds. Every thing else got a deep watering yesterday. I ordered shade cloth for the raspberries. Some were getting sunburned. It came today so I put it over them this morning. It's supposed to be a hot day. Right now, according to the weather, it's 86 F with a real feel of 97 and it's only 10 in the morning. I did baking and cooking yesterday, so nothing is going to heat up this house.

It is an exciting and challenging year this year in the garden. So much adapting.
That was wise baking early in the day. We will do the same tomorrow with bean and tom procesing.

It is a weird year. With the Canadian wildfire smoke and this mild summer. I'm wondering if the winter is going to be really bad. My granddaughter and I went to a nice cool theatre and saw a movie.
