When we lived in upstate New York, there was a wood carver in a small town next to us. He picked up driftwood from the Lake Ontario shore to use for the base, and carved all sorts of birds. This is his Baltimore Oriole.
We loved his carvings, and although we didn't have much disposable income at the time, we would buy one when we could. We have his Bufflehead Duck, Yellowlegs shorebird, and swan.
So, even when migration is over and we don't have orioles at the watering station, we can still see an oriole.

Lovely, absolutely lovely. I can see why you have acquired a few.
Does this person have a website where folks can look at his work? Does he still work?

    Thanks for this posting.

Sjoerd, the carver won't have a web site. We bought these bird carvings about 40 years ago. He was retired at the time, and this was his hobby.
We treasure our bird carvings, both for their beauty and for the memory of the carver.
