Just received some very sad news from Eileen's husband Ian that she passed away this morning.

Eileen was one of the very first GardenStew members joining on February 7, 2005, and also our first moderator. Over the years she has been one of the most helpful and above all patient members, always on hand to share useful information and welcoming new members. It's safe to say we wouldn't have the wonderful GardenStew community we have without Eileen's presence over the past 19 years.

I'm sure she has touched the lives of almost everyone here. I will greatly miss her bright personality and wisdom.

The ever presence of Eileen will be missed by all Stubies. She graced the posts with helpful comments and kind words . If you wanted to know what was happening on Gardenstew just read her posts. We will miss her guidance and direction. Now a higher garden benefits from her thoughts, words and deeds. We will always remember you Eileen.

    Thank you always,
    Jerry

How sad. She was the first person to respond to one of my earliest postings, so many years ago. She will be sorely missed.

Eileen was the first person to welcome me on my initial post, where I introduced myself, (I think it was in the year 2010). She was always kind to everyone, and often responded with humor, (her best quality).

I remember once when a very bad storm had knocked out internet connectivity in her area - Everyone of us was concerned. But soon she came back and said that all was fine. And although she didn't openly show it, but she was touched by how concerned we all were.

GardenStew will now NEVER be the same without one of it's absolute best member...

@Frank , would it be possible to compose all of Eileen's posts over here to be archived in one place? I think this way all the future members (who unfortunately now wouldn't know her) will still be able to benefit from her knowledge and wisdom... Just an idea.

The Stew and its members have suffered a great loss. She is gone, but her kind influence will live on. Let us all try to emulate Eileen.

This is sad news indeed. She was always here, ready to comment, support, and give helpful tips. My thoughts go to her family and friends in RL. I'm certain all us Stewbies will miss her a lot. I firmly believe she would want us to carry on our online life here as usual. Tonight I'll light a candle for her and re-read some of our conversations. I feel for you, Frank. Big hug!

I just saw this. I am so saddened by this news. Im newer than a lot of folks here, but I always enjoyed what Eileen had to say.

I 'm very sorry for your loss.
