The Good Day All Thread

I'm going through my stuff because I remember what we went through with my mom and dad....I don't want that for my kids.

 

Haha we all have our own special reasons when we share our stories about cleaning up our homes.
It’s always a good feeling to look thru a drawer and say wait a minute , this is something I have not seen or used in years, time to let it go. It’s funny how I just get used to seeing all this stuff most of the time and never think anything more about it. I know my kids will thank me too !

 

Pac, congratulations on finding some "stuff" that has actual value! Are you going to use some of your treasure to rent a big truck?
Daniel, no one hoards plants. Lots of plants indicates an avid gardener (although just a little too avid, perhaps).

 

Looks like several of us are tidying up a bit.

We have a table of "time to share these items" in the pantry right now, to pack into Amazon boxes. Mostly kitchen ware. We went through a bit of a vintage Corelle / Corning ware phase for a while, and more Pyrex than needed now, among other things. I think people like those, they might be worth something to collectors but just clutter here, so off to the thrift store with them. Also I'd like to get rid of a little furniture.

Marlingardener, you make a great point! One of my problems is, I like propagating plants too much and don't know anyone who wants them. I can only water and weed so much, too. Fortunately, a lot have matured into a transformed into a changed landscape that I really want to add more to and I can just putter.

 

I looked online and found that my old Corning ware is worth thousands . Who wudda thought!!!
I was shocked to see how much they were worth. I actually kept something that was worth thousands. So I don’t use them anymore . Anther place to just store stuff in the kitchen until I decide what to do next…So now what ? Maybe sell them to online company? Not to mention all the silverware and silver other stuff handed down from grand parents. I have been thinking about setting up with an online auction company this summer to at least get something outta this stuff. Yeah! More coins to by more plants… Talk about a one track mind…

We really do enjoy it though. Before it was like a cave, and a depressing one. It was hard to do some basic things. Just depressing. Now there is kind of a spa feel, and those tasks are much easier. Ot feels happy to be in there.

Still cleaning up some dry wall dust around the house. Getting better.

It's nice stuff to use though, isn't it? We use some of the covered casserole dishes every week. My sets are not complete and might have some wear for use, so there's that. I hope Rufus's casserole dish water dish isn't worth thousands, but he's a prince in my world anyway LOL.

 

Ebay maybe? I don't know.
My great aunt's century old, pure white Haviland bone china needs a new home too. I don't know if it's worth anything. There are also missing and broken pieces. After she died, my parents kept it for 40 years, never used it. I've had it 10 years, never used it.

 

Drywall dust is a nightmare to clear. It’s amazing how far that powder dust travels. I put up a plastic barricade over the doorway, helps keep it in check when the windows were replaced. The powder is so fine it clogs the vacuum's filter easily.

I just can’t believe Corning ware is that popular. I have stopped using mine and wrapped them all up in closet and marked price. Some day some of the kids might like them.
As far as the China saved for family sake. China used to be something to treasure and hand down from generations. Not any more . My china will go on the auction block this summer. Very spendy stuff…

Of course Prince Rufus is a very special dude. Every time I see his pic I just wanna hug him. Such a sweetie.
We love our pets as members of the family.

 

Good Friday morning all. Currently 3°C an sunny. It rained all night and the ground is very 'squishy'. I was going to try to get some gardens cleaned out today, but I may have to hold off.
I inherited my Mom's 'cornflower blue' Corning wear. I use it almost every day, just like she did. She also collected Crystal, and my sister and I split the collection. I really don't know what to do with it! I keep it only because it was dear to my Mom, but otherwise its just collecting dust. No one seems to collect that stuff anymore.

Our landscape is getting less squishy the past two days. We are having a heat wave in March it’s 60 degrees.
All my blue flower Corning ware have lids , different size casseroles, small individual carafe, and loaf size, but they show signs of wear scratches inside the dishes. Not in perfect condition but have some value.
Today will be a busy day lots of catch up outside to do before the rain starts up in a few days. Hoping to get out to the coast for a day at the beach on a nice sunny day. Maybe even warm enough to poke around in the surf with a few toes, and watch out for those sneaker waves this time of year. Love watching the waves . Mabye even go whale watching if the seas aren’t to rough.

Was in a fender bender Tuesday after work, kid hit me. My mind hasn't been on gardening so haven't said much on here this week. We'll see how the insurance game goes love my Subaru. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

This morning was "make dog food" morning. This time I added chicken hearts too. The meat portion gets cooked overnight in an eight quart slow cooker. I dropped the lid, breaking the knob but not the glass.

Later I made a trip to the pharmacy. Thrift store is two doors down. I gave them a car-trunk load of the dishes and other kitchen ware that I cleaned out of the pantry. Then I went inside and found a small pot glass lid for $2 that had a nice big plastic knob.

Returning home, I unscrewed the broken knob, replaced it with the knob from the pot lid that I bought. Current price for a new slow cooker like that is $99 on Amazon. Now somebody owes me $97 which I think would buy a pretty nice dinner LOL.

That happened once before. I think those plastic knobs get brittle with age.
