Several members have expressed difficulty uploading images from I-Pad. It's a convoluted process and doesn't always work, but here's what I do. For starters, I'm on an I-pad with whatever is the most current IOS operating system. I always update for security reasons. The last update did increase the difficulty. I use the browser duckduckgo, also to cut back in tracking and all of the intrusions of the bigger browsers. That might also be an issue. A big name browser might be easier. Anyway, here's what I do. It doesn't make sense in places, but it usually works for me. First, in the post I'm going to write, I select "Upload an image". Then I select "choose file". Then select "photo library" Now the photo library from the I-Pad comes up. Then tap on the image I want to use - in this case the colorful hyacinths top row. Blue checkmark. Then it gets a bit weird. I select "Cancel". It's in the upper LEFT corner. That brings up an options choice. The options include various size changes. I usually select Large, but sometimes I select medium. Then I click "Done" in the upper right corner. Almost there! Whew! Now it should upload to Garden Stew automatically. There it is in the uploads! And it took less time than for Frodo and Sam to trek from the Shire to throw the ring into the fires of Mount Doom! Even less time than it takes to read The Nibelungenleid in the original Old German! I select "Insert Full Image." There it is! For this image, I selected the "Medium" size. The "Large" size didn't work. Sometimes it doesn't work. I think a "medium" selection is more likely to work than "large" is the original is very large pixels. I bet there's an easier, faster way. I hope someone has a better way! But this is how I do it, It used to be easier than it is now. I take my photos on I-Phone, then transfer them to I-Pad via AirDrop. I imagine the process is different on a different brand tablet. I hope this helps someone. All corrections or improvements are welcomed, of course!
Great guide @Daniel W . I can give an explanation as to why Medium is more likely to work than Large. It's due to the fact that there is a maximum upload size per image to conserve server resources. If an image is too large it will get rejected. This makes sense as Medium size images will work better for visitors on the site also as it takes less time to download to view.
Once your thumbnail pic uploaded …. then. select …”.Enter Full Image” ….this will add a larger pic on the screen. Then Select “Post Reply”. This will post your larger pic and comment…..this button is next to “Enter Thumbnail” See picture of buttons above in Daniel’s directions post.
Thank you Daniel! I went through your steps and it worked. Ahhh, technology… I’m pretty clueless and happy with that
Thanks Sjoerd and Pac for responding. I have an I-Phone, and use it to take pictures. I don't use it for the internet because my eyes cant read such small text and my fingers are too big and clumsy for the tiny keypad. What I really need is one of these that connects to the internet. Probably wouldn't fit in my pocket LOL.
Daniel nope wouldn’t fit….Digging thru the ancient archives I remember those they were tough to type and weighed a ton. I prefer the electric typewriter even faster than my iPad . I don’t have a IPhone . I can’t see it well either, besides I like blowing up the screen to read comfortably and see every detail in pics on my IPad.
I had a manual Olympia typewriter. I don't recall that I did much with it, .my mom was a whiz on a IBM Selectric. That pocket needs room for these too. . And a very long cord. You're welcome Kay. Technology is a good way to get me into full curmudgeon mode. You'll never hear me cuss, but if I was going to, it would be about technology or politicians. And maybe my health insurance company and its minions.
