@Pacnorwest - I almost forgot to post this link. These are the two yam dog treat recipes. :) I did peel the skins off of the long chew ones - the skin is a little tough to digest and Angus needs easy digestion. If he didn't have a sensitive tummy right now I would have left it on ( he also needs fiber.)

The giant yams work great for the chews, and the photo I posted was one yam. I look for long and skinny ones for the rounds. I keep them in the fridge also. Some people freeze them but mine don't last long enough to worry too much about that.

I check the oven regularly after a couple of hours, and take out the ones that dried a little faster.

Melody thanks so much for the info. And links. They are a nice easy way for treats that are good for our pups.
Will add yams to my grocery list . Cheers.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 3°C and sunny. I saw a flock of Tundra Swans flying overhead this morning, what an amazing sight!
Theres lots to do today because we have our skating clubs potluck awards luncheon tomorrow. This means that I have to do all of Sundays regular things on Saturday!
I also need to give my seedlings some love, and sow the Zinnias. I have limited space until I can move everything to my window greenhouse, so it could be a challenge.
Have a great day all :)

    Good afternoon everyone.

Oops I thought I had already posted this morning, so a quick change of time of day and it's done.;):)

@Melody Mc. ,what a lovely post!!
So glad you had such a great time. Life seems to get in the way of keeping in touch with our friends doesn't it. They are so precious and it's important to keep the contact going. I and a coup!e of school friends still meet up regularly...we've been close friends for 58 years. Even though we've all moved out of the area we still make a point of meeting up 2-3 times a year and have our own WhatsApp thread for more regular chats. Modern technology is marvellous:D:like:

We have a named storm hitting parts of the UK ( Kathleen today but we're getting off pretty lightly with winds only reaching the high 40's mph.

Good Morning Stewbies! Having morning java and watching the neighbors across the way doing stuff with their land grader, in the rain.

@Oreti , A belated condolence for your brother's health situation. Much more than "situation" but I don't know the words. I've also been there in my life, and understand some of the emotions and travails. Peace and hugs to you.

@Melody Mc. Rufus is pestering me now to add yams to the grocery list! Now why would he do that? Especially when he has a package of chicken heart jerky and a package of rotisserie chicken jerky yet to eat! He's looking at me, then the floor, then at me, then the floor...

@Netty you are ahead of me with sewing zinnia seeds. I might in a couple of weeks.

I'm thinking about having the back patio torn out and replaced. We spend a lot of time there. The acid rain has etched through the old concrete to the pebble stones, creating a tripping hazard. It never looks good. I reached out to a concrete contractor.

It's a chilly wet am and I still need some recuperation from yesterday's projects. Time to watch another mind- bending episode of The Three Body Problem.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 2°C and sunny.
Up bright and early to get things done before our luncheon today. Didn't get the Zinnas sown yet, and I doubt I'll have time today. Back to work tomorrow, and spring skate starts so time is getting precious again. Busy, busy, busy!
Have a great day all :)

Received notice the illuminated ‘Firefly’ Petunia has been shipped. Really curious to see what size plant has been shipped and hoping it will do well . Keeping the 2 plants in pots to monitor their development.

It's lovely cool day, sunny day with a bit of cloud. If I can hit 10 C I'll pack most of my plants outside to the deck. Almost there, we are at 8 C. I made chicken strips and yam fries for supper ( Hubby said Angus' looked tasty....) :) The blackbirds emptied the feeders this morning so both needed topping up.

Some flying squirrels were running on the roof over our heads early this AM for an hour or so. Spring is here and the mate chase is on. We have a unique population of them, that most don't see in our area. Also with the rain forest type trees from the waterfalls, we get tree frogs which is unheard of in our part of the world. We all have little micro climates. I'm always excited to hear the tree frogs in the summer...not so much the nocturnal flying squirrels running relays.

@Melody Mc. , how fab to have Flying Squirrels.....what colour are they ? We just have the ordinary tree jumpers here mostly Greys but there are specific areas that have the ,now .rare native Reds.

They are a dark grey...small...and have huge round eyes so that they can see at night. Their tails are fanned and super soft - I guess to help with the "glide", and they have cute little flaps of skin under their arms to expand and catch air.

When we sit on our deck at night in the summer, Hubby will say "Incoming!" when a squirrel flies/glides down from a tree to the "squirrel proof" feeder. They are much smaller than our little red squirrels, but not as small as a chipmunk. They can reach into the feeder with their little hands.

They're not destructive. They fly in from the forest for a snack of black oil sunflower seeds, and then move on ( apparently after frolicking on our roof - like little kids on a floor in the shopping mall). :)

We've walked right up to them at the feeder. And if a flashlight is accidently shone on them they freeze - I imagine it is uncomfortable for their eyes.

I feel very lucky to have them here. They're pretty cool. :) Thanks for asking Oreti.

    Not a bad day.

Short dog walk, interrupted by rain.

Home haircut so I don't look Robinson Crusoe at appointment tomorrow. (Actually it's never over an inch long).

I will start slow cooker tonight for tomorrow's dog food.

I installed rolling casters under my very heavy sewing table. Now I can roll it out to access what falls behind it, or clean, or access power outlets.

I tried to install power grommets on the ends of the sewing table for easy access to plug and unplug stuff. Unfortunately, after measuring multiple times, the hole cut slightly into a diagonal support. I don't think it hurts structurally but would make neat installation of the grommet very difficult. I tried one anyway. Even though I had measured multiple times, the hole saw was 1/8 inch too small so the power grommet didn't fit anyway. So I glued the plug that I had just cut out, back into place, using liquid nails. I will shift the grommet location by about 1/2 inch (measure measure measure) and I have a new hole saw ordered. In the end I can make it work and the repair will be invisible - 95 % will be cut out when I re-cut, and the rest will be under the grommet edge.

    What a saga LOL!

Saw this once in a lifetime pic snapped just at the right time, had to share. Unbelievable catch. New York and the east coast of the US has had severe weather along with a rare earthquake , flooding and a severe Nor Easter.

    Good morning everyone.

Wow @Pacnorwest that is some pic !!!

Hope to get the rest of my seedlings out into the greenhouse this morning before the next lot of rain arrives. Will also hook some shading that can be pulled across easily when it's sunny. It reached 40 C in there yesterday!!! I don't want frazzled seedlings!!
