We saw our first hummingbird of the season this past week, and one or two every day since. Our two feeders are out and filled, and we are keeping our eyes open for the visitors.
Hummers are like family here. Several that over winter here. Still fighting over the feeders. Taken thru the window.
Rainy afternoon… they are sharing one feeder.. shocking… Types of hummers in Oregon. Ruby red hummer- Anna’s hummers, brown color -ruffus hummers, and black chinned hummer shown below. Thru the window pic.
Those hummers almost look metallic. They are beautifully exotic, aren’t they. What a shame that we do not have them.
Sjoerd your have a good eye to see the hummer feathers are metallic when the sun hits their feathers they just glow. Even though there are no Hummers in the Netherlands, you have a lot of very unique birds we do not have. Have you been out birding yet ? I seem to remember that you have a keen interest in birds.
I have not been birding this spring. First it was to rainy, now my time is short because there is simply too much catch-up work to do in the lottie because of that rain. I hope that I can get away one of these days, but not yet. I have to make choices snd it is for the garden at the minute. You know Pac, what we do at this time of year determines how the season will go later on.
