Magnificent, Clay! That is a beauty. Have you pruned it, or just let it grow? Y’know mate, it looks especially good with the green grass ans the brown-grey of the woods behind it. Yeah, that is a real looker. This Aquilegia is one of several sorts blooming here at the minute. These lilies-of-the-valley and the bos anemones are still doing well, and the hosta and Astrantia are coming along, as you can see:
@Sjoerd no not really. I just cut off anything dead or ailing. I like things natural where I can. Love the Lily Of The Valley - it was my dad's favorite.
Clay—Good that you like the LotV. I have to keep it in control, because he has the tendency to spread. It is a pity, but that is how one must garden on an allotment because of limited space. I think it is interesting to hear the connection between your father and this plant. Plants that have connections and/or stories behind them add to their beauty. There are a number of flowering plants in my lottie that have such connections…some are bitter-sweet.
OK beautiful flowers is so nice to see… such an amazing well tended garden. I know so much more is to come. Take it easy we all seem to have that “OUCH” deal going . It’s that time of year, keep it slow as the days pass we will get in better shape…remember the chart!
Ajuga reptans blooming in many corners of our garden. Lillies have sprung into life and are putting on rapid growth, but still kept in a sheltered outside spot for a few more weeks. One of our neighbours, a majestic Oak, is looking stunning with it's fresh green leaves, it really out shines some of the other trees that are still waiting for their greenery .
Oreti beautiful garden pics… I see a lovely iris…I enjoy looking thru your garden pics . It was a long winter , so nice to finally see your spring gardens are a poppin ! So much color from shrubs, evergreens and flowers. Today’s find on the Western Geraniums a huge bee . I think it’s a Long Horn bee. Any other ID is welcome. It’s the first time in years I have ever seen that type of bee . Western Geranium First blooms on the bi-color azalea’s. So pink makes my eyes hurt.. Rosemary
The lilac hedge. Twenty years ago, we were at a plant fair in Canby OR, and found a table with tissue cultured lilacs. We bought one of each, to grow a hedge. A few are offshoots from neighbor's bushes, or one at our old house.
Stunning Lilacs @Daniel W , I particularly like the white one. We only have the one in our garden that I'm quite proud of because I grew it from a cutting, I'm thinking of taking another one this year. Their fragrance fills the air and is lovely.
