Spiraea in it's full glory this morning.....so sad that in general blossom doesn't last very long.

Everything is greening up fast now over the far side of our garden , this area is clay (our house was built 120 years ago alongside a working clay quarry) . This part is mainly shrubs, Plum, Cherry, Appple and Pear trees with a couple of Buddlejas ( Butterfly Bushes), with other plants dotted about for additional colour. IMG_20240430_092320.jpg

Yeap ! Sjoerd you are correct. Rhubarb is one thing the rabbits, elk, deer don’t eat due to its high levels of oxalic acid nor the gophers / moles/ voles/ mice….even slugs and snails . It comes back winter after winter. My family prefers rhubarb pie to pumpkin. It’s much tastier than pumpkin. It has a better consistency and texture . Sweet and tangy once cooked in a pie crust with all the toppings. Yummm.

I really liked the pic, Pac. It is a great overview. You have such gorgeous areas there.
Funny about that rhubarb…I had some rhubarb crumble at a goodbye party in the clubhouse this morning. Delicious.

Oreti— great yard shots…and the spirea is smashing.
