This area has bird feeders and has been neglected, with stomped on grass . Bob had an idea last week to enclose the space and plant annuals. Well, it didn’t take much coaxing for me to spring into action. I found paving bricks on a local seller site. The man that had them saved them from his work in construction. These pavers came out of the street in an original marketplace in our city. They date back to the 1850s. I’m going to settle them into the ground more when I have the energy. ( I still have to sink and settle 5 more stepping stones in another area… but that another story) HaHa I spent 3 days scraping grass sod out and repurposing it in bare spots. Now I have to get the soil worked and then I’m planting Zinnias, Snapdragons, and a variegated Feather Reed grass to add to existing vinca vine and Perilla. Today we’ve had rain, and I think someone up above is telling me to rest. Just when you think you have no more spots for flowers.!!
170 (roughly) year old pavers! That's my kind of treasure hunting. Nice job! It will look very nice with those flowers. I don't have a photo, but a fee decades ago my dad built a patio using bricks from a demolished brick sidewalk. Then he found cast iron sewer lids, wired brushed and spray painted them black, for stepping stones. I wish there was more access to that kind of upcycling. It can turn out very nice. Recycling, or better yet upcycling - Is what the world desperately needs right now. So I'm very happy to see the wonderful job you guys did.
