Sjoerd, it's Philadelphus lewisii. I bought the start in about 2014 when I was beekeeping. Many of my choices back then were for trees and shrubs to provide nectar - Tilia cordata, Oxydendrum arboreum, crababble, Acer rubrum. I thought the Philadelphus would help too. Bees from the neighborhood most like my Ceonothus, which are sometimes humming with activity.
All the rhody’s are in full bloom.. a huge oldie but goodie rhody tree 25’ high and California lilac blooming blue flower heads. More rhody’s surrounding the center water feature for the birds. California lilacs .

Oh Wow @Pacnorwest what fantastic blooms ! @Daniel W your Roses are fabulous too ,I can imagine their devine fragrance........sensational !!! I particularly love the multicoloured one on shades of orange/ red.
Such a lush, beautiful garden! @Oreti, that multicolor rose is Tropical Lightening, a climbing rose although currently just a bush. It has other names in other countries. You're most welcome @Pacnorwest , it would be impossible not to comment on your stunning plants.. Thanks @Daniel W for the additional info. I'm in the very early stages of growing a Peony from a seed that I managed to harvest from one in my parents garden before selling up after they both passed away. I left it in a small Ziploc bag in compost and forgot about it for a while... over a year!!! When I came across it I discovered roots and shoots . It's still not very big, if I remember I'll take a pic tomorrow. I know absolutely nothing about them so I'm off do a bit of much needed research. I bought a pkt of Red Poppy seeds......and forgot to sow them, however we do have a lot of Welsh Poppies at the moment.

Daniel— cheers for that name, mate. Those are good “bee trees/ plants”. When I grew Ceanothus I remember how much the bees liked them here too. Aside from the bee interest, I just find them a beautiful plant. In some growing situations here, they can live for a few years. In my garden it lasted two years. I was heartbroken when it died, but that is the reality of our climate here. My Bride and I still talk about it. Hmmmm I hope it will be @Daniel W ..... thank you. But first it has to survive my lack of knowledge, poor little plant. I can't even recall the colour it's potential fingerscrossed blooms will hopefully be.
