Mel— wonderful to see you. Your food sounds really good. Teriyaki pork loin chucked on the barbi. Too delicious.

Pac— what is a Monte Cristo sandwich?

There are many variations of the Monte Cristo
    1. Place two slices of white bread on a flat surface. Spread mustard on one slice and mayonnaise on the other.
    2. Add thin slices of ham shredded gruyere cheese on top of the mustard and cover the cheese with the other part of the sandwich. In a nonstick pan over medium heat, add butter to melt.
    3. In a shallow bowl, add the eggs and whisk them until the egg whites and yolks are incorporated. Carefully dip the sandwiches in on both sides. Once the butter has been melted, fry on both sides for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown on top.

It is a different type sandwich . Sorta like a French toast with an added stuffings between two layers. For toppings . Add jelly’s , jams, whipping cream , powdered sugar or a spicy touch of hot space.

Cod baked, twice baked red taters, green beans with onions, bacon and candied walnuts. And pear salad with red fancy lettuce, avacado and green onions.

@Pacnorwest - your post made me chuckle. I pulled out my old Fanny Farmer cookbook last week as I wanted to explore Mr. Monte Cristo. I haven't had reliable internet for quite some time. Just the odd glimmer. ( it's all replaced and fixed now). We are now having Monte Cristo's tomorrow. I was a bit nervous but your explanation sold me. :)

Tonight Hubby is embracing Alberta/Canadian sports and watching CFL BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders, and flipping to the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Stanley Cup Hockey playoffs. Chicken wings seemed fitting :) So it's chicken wings, salad and some sweet potato baked fries.

Melody hope you enjoy your Monte Cristo’s tomorrow. yummm.
Glad to hear your internet is all up to date and your back online. So many house items depend on the internet it’s a bit alarming.

We also updated our tv internet service in 20 years. I was shocked by the size of the units now half the size of the originals and has a back up if the internet goes out.

Recently our thermostat has an internet connection and it went out, no heat. The battery that maintained the internet connection needed replacement. It turned out we could hook up a recharge connection to the battery and keep it running after a few days of internet searching. The point is without the internet connection - no heat . Was a rude awakening had it for years , first time that happened. It was to be supported by inline wiring so the battery would maintain the charge, but it did not work. It’s the Nest system. Bah hum bug…

Tonight it will be hamburgers in the garden with a fellow gardener and her partner. I’m looking forward to that.

I hope you had a wonderful time Sjoerd. We are now inspired and having burgers tonight.

Yesterday was lamb chops with homemade mint jelly and corn on the cob. The corn was a pleasant surprise from the grocery store and not too bad :)
