I used to love refinishing old wood furniture. I don't have the need for anything more, so I have to watch what others do. This Youtube refinisher did a beautiful job, making what looked like a piece of junk into something beautiful. She had special respect for the original woodgrain. Really nice.

oops, it doesn't embed. Here is the youtube link. I hope.

Yes the video came thru , interesting. The furniture piece in the video came out brand new. the things pictured you shared are all well done down to the last detail. A pro would be envious.

Back in the day I was doing the opposite , distressing furniture, giving it character . Painting then antiquing the finish or two tone colors and no shinny surfaces. Flat and natural waxes mixed with different materials.
I could take a perfectly good ole fashioned piece of furniture and turn it into something different after bashing , drilling worm holes, adding nail spots, scrapes the works. You know when older furniture was well made the drawers made with dove tail . Those were the days when I had the energy. Still to this day, no wood furniture is shinny and mixed wood colors and mixed with metals or glass. Some things never change.

@Pacnorwest You are certainly challenged with critters. My lot has been unmanaged for so long with wind and no water the mole has slowly begun its invasion. Trixie, my Decker rat terrier, has added to the chaos as she hunts and digs. Somehow it all seems right although the neighbors probably think I’m a mad woman since I seem to be yelling at the dog all the time :suspicious::confused: and am raking in her “digs”.

Oh boy it is a never ending issue. Moles eat worms and gophers eat plants. Get out the traps before your area ends up like my pasture , ‘Swisscheese’.

Yes, distressing furniture does give it a comfortable lived-in feel.

I find it sad that so much now is MDF. I have an old MDF cabinet that leaves the clothes smelling like chemicals. It's on the get-rid-of list.

There are lots of videos with furniture transformations. I find them inspirational.

Daniel Oh yes that stuff is stinky. Has no character , reminds me of homogeneous hospital furniture. There is a lot of good furniture at antique and resale stores. I’ve had a lot of luck at small resale shops up and down the coast of Oregon. I have found some real jewels . Shops almost giving well made pieces away, price is less than half of retail .

I read an article about generations Gen Z and Millennials have been especially into recycled furniture , appliances , etc. as much as possible saving thousands. Designer furniture today reminds me of a reinvention of the 1950’s which costs a fortune.

Interesting group of projects . to many chef's and not enough cooks with the criticism goin online. Wait til it’s done. It will be a work of art.
One huge thing that caught my eye in the video above was the concrete tile roof. Reminds me to get mine cleaned up as soon as the sun comes out. It’s been a wet rainy spring and hoping by the end of the week can pop some Wet and Forget up there.
