I planted those trees about 15 years ago. They have been very rewarding.

Daniel— what a great reward. They look delicious. Boy, I could gobble those right up. What are your plans for them?

They look good Daniel. We have a Cherry tree but never net it so it's the birds that are the fruit gatherers :)

Picking more cherry tomatoes! One plant would have been enough. Two plants are providing an overabundance.

I was able to get some of my cherries this year. Mine are sour pie cherries, but yummy. The trees are tall, and I cannot reach them all. I was happy to get the ones I can reach.

I plan to get outside shortly and finish putting up the fence wire on the new pen for Horsey. Hopefully, I can get other stuff done also.

Cherry trees grow wild in the PNW , Prunus emarginata, the bitter/tart cherry or Oregon cherry, is a species of Prunus native to western North America. Never had the privilege to collect any due to critters high and low depend on the 25’-30’ trees.

@Daniel has the best collection of fresh sweet cherry trees . Cherries like ‘Bing’, ‘Rainier’ and ‘Chelan’ are cultivars of ‘Prunus avium’, and are available between May and August.
Great nutritional value with Vit-C and helps regulate blood glucose levels.

I like cherry wood and it is highly prized for musical instruments , furniture also used as vaneers incorporating different styles. Cost between $7.00 - $25.00 per board foot. Perhaps my huge cherry trees are more than just a pretty fruit . Considering the wood value=cash from these giant trees. Just a thought.

I did work more on the fence for my horse's new pen but I did not get it done yet. It is so hot here. Putting up barbed wire is hard work. I had to clean a lot of brush out on one section also. I do have some leftover welded wire to use where I please, most likely in my veggie garden for trellises.

After resting from the heat, I did plant some of my new seeds. I sure hope they grow. I have my bean seeds soaking, and plan to plant them tomorrow afternoon. I put up a trellis for the yard long beans, if it stays upright. If it does not stay put, I will snag my last two T posts and a piece of lattice from that wall my son plans to take down anyway. I can put that stuff to work elsewhere. (but I will leave the bluebird house alone until fall...) I am not sure where to put my bush beans yet.
Maybe in front of the redbeets that are finally growing?

and I have not even gotten to that wall of poison ivy and multiflora rose yet...

AAnightowl more power to you getting the horse pen cleared and fencing. Have you used electric fencing. T posts are a pain getting thru hard pan clay here .
It is exhausting work since most of the US and your surrounding states are literally stuck in a heat dome. Stay hydrated and safe.

The past couple of days always do the same. Mowing twice a day keeps the critters away. Pulled up 2 traps with moles. No deer scat in 3 months.
But saw mom deer today in neighbors tall grass snoozing with two babies and one juvenile. Chased them off .
They’ll be back. So next I set out the Plantskyyd around my hydrangeas setting bud.

Used the tractor which has mulcher blades to mulch a pile of blackberry brambles . How satisfying …:smt023
Sprayed the perimeter for weeds and white clover = gophers fav food. Then drowned out the squirrels under the house foundation again. Set up poison pellets in the ground squirrels area under the barn and the shed. Then spot sprayed a couple spots of poison oak and sumac.

Changed the oil on the tractor and dumped the oil in the squirrels tunnels under the barn then buried with dirt.
I’m done. Time for a rest.

DS made it home today, so he figured out putting new string in the trimmer. He had a hard time of it... He will have to show me a few times before I get the hang of it. I am used to a trimmer where you just pop in a spool of string and it is good to go.

I did trim work until the battery was about down. I came in to cool off.

I was trying to click "like" on one of y'all's posts above, and a page came up asking me if I was sure I wanted to like the post?????? How weird! Technology is totally weird sometimes.

It is 6 pm already, so guess I will try and do a bit more before dark...
