Today will be hot but not horrible.

I'm very pleased with the new white metal roof / ridge vent system. Even when in mid 80s, the house remains in the low 70s.

Tomorrow the insulation guy will replace and deepen the attic insulation layer. The original is recycled newspaper about 2 inches thick - inadequate and matted due to the vents originally vented into the attic. Also mice lived up there. I want it replaced. The new insulation will be fiberglass and over a foot thick (I think). That's mostly planning for winter. The heat pump isn't up to extremes without that help.

    Rain is predicted for tomorrow.

Before I use to say, that when I go outside, 8t feels like someone just opened the oven in my face... I however, it feels like I just walked into a giant blowtorch!

Reason is simple to understand now, after looking at the satellite picture - There is a massive low pressure region South of Karachi, in the Arabian Sea, (Indian Ocean). Which has practically cut off the sea breeze that otherwise keeps Karachi city cool... So I can see the early signs of a cycle.

Barometric pressure is dropping rapidly now, in the last couple of days.

That's the outside air temperature, according to the instrument in my car. So this is how hot it actually is, over asphalt during daytime.

Finally it rained a little, dusty rain that is, that too for only a short while. But at least the temperature dropped to a bearable 33°C (91°F)...

S-H Good to her it rained for you today, and found some relief from the scorching temps.
What do you do to stay safe and cool from the heat?

Well there isn't much anyone can do about it... Mostly just have good air conditioning in your house and car. Also avoid being outside when the sun is blazing. And try staying hydrated. Dress up accordingly also, like I'm now often in Bermuda shorts, tank tops, and a fishing hat made out of straw, plus reflective polarized sunglasses, (if I need to be outside).

You know, to avoid all this, 6-7 years ago I invested in solar panels. So since that day, I said goodbye to the national electricity grid - And have no regrets since! Yes batteries did cost me a lot, (for energy storage during the night). But I'm now so happy to be rid of the unreliable power.

I have suffered a few terrible hard drive crashes in life also, (due to unexpected power failures). But since I now have my own independent source of renewable energy - No more loss of precious data either.

So my advice is to try it out. Even with a small portable solar panel for camping and a car battery - Because our climate is getting more and more extreme, (globally). So national power grids everywhere are failing. Therefore in such a situation, even if you're only able to charge your smartphone. You'll still be way ahead of everyone else.

Absolute best part is, I now don't pay any exuberant power bill anymore. I'm literally answerable to no one regarding energy.

Seriously guys, situation isn't getting any better anywhere. Climate everywhere is becoming more and more extreme. And geopolitical environment also turning pretty hostile as well - Globally... And I frankly speaking don't see any signs of improvement anytime soon. So might as well be as independent as possible. Thankfully affordable technologies like solar and wind power now allow us to be.
