I was concerned about effects of the heat for Rufus. His wool grows quickly, so he was already looking like a dust-bunny. I have him a nice, short, all- over haircut. He doesn't lime that, and all of the squirming exhausted him and me. Afterwards, he's like a new puppy again. He's very frisky now!

As it turned out, I did have to turn on the a/c for a while. It wasn't unbearably hot, but in my old age I can't handle heat like I used to.

Your story clipping Rufus made me laugh… our lil angles can be exhausting at times.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 18°C and sunny. It looks like a beautiful day ahead! Had the puppy out for his morning business, and now I'm going to try having a coffee before we go for a walk. I'm hoping he will eat some breakfast because he hasn't been eating too much the past few days, I think due to teething. But hes eating now and thats a good thing. Tomorrow he goes to the vet for his next round of shots and a checkup.
Today I want to get some weeding done. Fingers crossed this little bundle of energy lets me!
Have a great day all :)

@Netty I know you’re going to think that a weeding robot is just the ticket for veggie rows. It’s 50% off on Amazon.
    A BD gift. I haven’t tried it yet .

Amazon - peppermint spray by the gallon seems to help with the squirrels digging under the foundation and in the planters. My testimony on this product ..”Really works” !

Today I replaced the toilet fill valve at the old place. Because things go wrong whenever you decide you are done with your work. The realtor's photographers will be there tomorrow, and the house will be listed on the 12th. I still need to find new hinges to replace two broken ones for a bathroom vanity door. Because even though a lot of cabinet hinges are unique, these are uniquer than most.

I have HIF 'Home Improvement Fatigue".

The contractor pulled off the old trim on the farm house, replaced bad T1-11 siding with plywood, and installed vapor barrier house-wrap. This stuff has I-mm bumps so the new siding has a slight air space behind it. He installed some of the window trim, same fiber/cement composite as the siding (this is 90% cement + sand, 10% fiber to prevent cracking).

    IMG_8709.jpeg

He installed a little of the siding, too.

    IMG_8712.jpeg

I can't tell it from wood, but it's still that cement composite. The main thing to me, is the fire resistance and durability.

I remember some very old houses where I grew up, had siding made with cement too. Designed to look like cedar shakes. I imagine the fiber in those was asbestos . I think the new stuff uses wood fiber, but not enough to be flammable or allow insect munching.

Friday I get an IV infusion of iron. Long story, but I don't absorb iron from food. Zero. Every year or so, they infuse it into my vein instead. Then I transform from a slug, into Popeye. For a while :setc_083: . Right now, a slug could chase me down and eat me .

All for now. Have a nice evening and morning, everyone!

@Daniel W Nice…new siding is lookin sharp. :smt023 It’s a great material favorable enough to serve 2 purposes… updating curb appeal and fire insurance rates - some companies give discounts .
Concerned with the color profile in pic with ladder?

I noticed that too. I don't think so. It will all be painted. If one coat doesn't cover it, there is a warranty.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 19°C and raining. Our area has a special weather statement in effect, for "rainfall with embedded torrential downpours expected". We could get up to 75mm of rain in the next 24 hours, and it is the tail end of Hurricane Beryl. I didn't go to work today so I get to play with puppy today.
Lots of house chores to catch up on while my gardens are getting watered.
Have a great day all :)

I tried to do a few repairs but didn't accomplish anything. I drove into Portland to a hardware store that specializes in recovered old hardware. Spent 30 min looking for a parking space :)frustrated:) and wound up parking about 8 blocks away. I was anxious I wouldn't find the car again, but I did. They didn't have the part :smt022. Oh well.

I will try a couple of other things. We'll see.

The electrician installed the emergency generator switchbox and showed me how to use it. Now (I hope) if power lines are down, there will still be heat or cooling, and light, and cooking. Just the basics.

The electrician's assistant (I think his son) was quite concerned because the sun tunnels remained "lit" when the power was off. It seemed to bother him, quite a lot. Sun tunnels are round skylights that channel light from domes on the roof, through a reflective tube to a round glass "window" in the ceiling. There is no electricity involved. I explained several times, but was never certain he understood.

Anyway, the generator was on my wish list for the past couple of years. It's done now :).

Resting the rest of the day.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 18°C and sunny.
I've been out with Thunder for his walk, now enjoying a cup of coffee. Lots of work to do today!
Wednesday into Thursdays rain was extreme, causing a huge lake (with rapids!) to appear on my front lawn. Its been draining nicely, but it will be a while before we can cut the grass there. The gardens are well watered and hopefully I can get some weeding done today. There are some shrubs ready for some trimming too. Should be another busy day!
Have a great day all :)

Baking bread today. We were out of French bread, and also crescent rolls. The kitchen will smell lovely, and hopefully won't be hotter than the outside temps in the 90's!
No yard work except watering the container plants. Last of the parsley was harvested yesterday. It is getting "feathery" and ready to set seed. More parsley coming in the fall.
This will be a fun day, and I hope you all have fun, too!

It’s a bit cooler this morning .,nice day with sunshine and a marine breeze. Not much planned so far today.
DH has been under the weather and he will need assistance today and things organized, meds, clothing washing and small meals, thruout the day. I am his only caretaker and am grateful to still have him. The dogs are great at entertaining him makes him laugh , especially good on bad days.

@Netty don’t over do careful trimming those hedges… arms shoulder get tired, a rest period is calling. Maybe the weeds will wait a day or two for a bit of well deserved rest and play for part of your day. You’re such a hard worker.
Everything you do is perfection. You have a good day too!.

@marlingardener i can smell the bread baking from here. It does add a gentle ol factor and tasty too.
Outside temps in the 90’s,here too today . Cooling out the house open window and door. A nice breeze and the humidity is low, refreshes the stuffy house. Sound like a fun day Sending good vibes your way for a fun day and a tiny bit of rest too!

@Daniel W your summer has been over the top with so many different projects going at once. I like the light tunnel added and it will be nice especially during winter to have extra light . When I first moved here that was the first thing I added were two 6’x3’ skylights. It gets too dark in winters even the poor indoor plants were complaining. They need light too just as much as we do. Now I have more windows to clean two on the tile roof section.

You certainly checked a lot of things off your wish list this year. How’s the house siding coming along? Painting the siding next and it’s great weather for outside home improvements. Catch some rest this weekend… well deserved time for yourself. I think some of us have a hard time sitting still when the garden is our priority . When season is in high course and volume of plants calling us is hard to ignore. Soon harvest time will be here and much to do.
    Have a great Day !
