Note to self, do not put pumpkin seeds in compost pile.
Yesterday we picked five pie pumpkins, merrily growing in the compost pile. When preparing a pie pumpkin for Christmas dinner, I put the seeds and stringy stuff in the compost can and dumped it. Now we have a very large vine (or more) growing on the compost railing.
It's early to get pumpkins--mid-July? We usually get pumpkins in mid-September. There is hope for this fall, the vine(s) is just full of blossoms!
Husband took a photo of our pumpkin crop:

    Small, but preemies usually are!

Sounds like your compost pile is the perfect raised, no dig bed for pumpkins. :smt038
