Well Kay, I think you ought to periodically show views of the shady plot’s ever-changing character. I wish that had the space to grow more bushes.
Phlox and lilies are fragrant enough that walkers have commented. Think I will move some lilies to the street border next year. The color and plant combinations are quite an unexpected riot of color because rescue and moving plants was a task just getting them all in the ground. . ‘There were a few insects this AM. The spider was attempting to catch bees way too big and smart. The moth I would not have noticed except I unintentionally sprayed it with water and it was shaking it off.
Published in 1844, written by Alexander Dumas, "The Count Of Monte Cristo", the protagonist Edmond Dantés visits his poor father Louis. Edmond was first mate of the ship Pharaon, returning after journey to Anatolia. "This room was occupied by Dantés’ father. The news of the arrival of the Pharaon had not yet reached the old man, who, mounted on a chair, was amusing himself by training with trembling hand the nasturtiums and sprays of clematis that clambered over the trellis at his window. Suddenly, he felt an arm thrown around his body, and a well–known voice behind him exclaimed, “Father—dear father!” I found his nasturtiums and clematis, and a few other flowers. Edmond would later be framed, accused, arrested, and imprisoned for sympathies with the Bonapartists. Among other identities, he became the Count of Monte Cristo, and had many adventures. Well, the siding is all installed. The contractor will power wash the siding and sidewalk this weekend, then start prepping the house to paint. Meanwhile, my patio container garden is still in temporary locations. I hope to return them to the patio, late next week. I enjoy having them there.
thanx @Daniel W appreciate you taking the time and comment on my garden pics. And …” Back at ya”… all your pics are lovely to see and so striking so many beautifully well cared for potted plants as well as some really favorites like glads and Alostromeria’s , dahlia’s, marigold’s, zinnia’s, portulaca’s. Including the story on the nasturtiums & clematis . They all round out your many talents in gardening . The sage color plant you asked about is: Lambs' Ears (Stachys byzantina) .
Gorgeous display, Jewell. I could almost smell the phlox and lilies. Pac— another stunning display. Daniel— your pics look very sunny and hot. The beauty, however really made me happy. BTW— have tour Mirabilis begun blooming yet?
PAC- What is the tree pictured after the Lilies, and before the Petunias? I think there is one line thus at our city zoo that is very striking (and unusual for our area) it’s so cool!
I absolutely love my verbena bonariensis! I’ve had them over winter several years and put more in this spring. It is a great tall airy addition to my beds.
Love the purple clematis with the bright nasturtiums @Daniel W and all your beautiful potted plants. Your literary skills abound as does your gardening prowess. @Pacnorwest excellent photos of many varieties as always.
My campanula opened today. And an unexpected white coloured Bread seed Poppy full of bees. My first day lily opened. And a Flanders Lady Bird Poppy
It’s a mimosa small tree , Albizia julibrissin. It’s invasive in some growing zones - not in my zone 8b.
