I was wondering what you all usually do when panfrying and using garlic. I usually put the garlic in with a oil to start it off, and then add the meat. How about all you?
Hi bgan, yes I also would do the same but I suppose it depends on how fried you want the garlic to get
Putting the garlic in first flavors the oil so you get more flavor from the garlic. I like to do that, too. If I don't want so much garlic flavor I put it in later. Dooley
Same way here like Dooley.Sometimes I saute it in butter along with onion if I want a lighter flavor.
I use a lot of garlic for cooking at home. My favourite is to fry it till crispy and sprinkle it on my vege or other meat dishes.
Sounds good thanks for all the replys, I thought what I did was all good. a few friends told me before that if you put it in before hand it will make the garlic burn. I don't think I have experienced this yet. and yeah you can never use to much garlic. :-D
Well, it figures that I'm the one out of step with the majority, but I do generally wait to add fresh garlic to a saute so it doesn't burn. there's one in every crowd, eh?
I planted garlic last fall. Sure hope it comes up!! This is my first shot at garlic, maybe my last If it doesn't grow I'll just stick to my flowers! Deanna :-D
Oh, Deanna, you will love growing garlic! It is so easy and fun! You might try growing Elephant Garlic (actually just a leek) for the fun of it. Do you know about snipping the scapes? Your garlic will grow long stalks on them, one of them with a head. Cut this stalk off so it cannot bloom, as this will suck the life from the bulb, which is supposed to grow larger - resulting in good sized heads. Just snip those suckers off with the scissors. Some people even eat the scapes, adding them to stir-fry. KM
