I will chain each branch to the big tractor bucket before I cut any more to brace the branch. I appreciate all your concern. Will be super careful.
Baby steps from now on. It’s windy and rainy today , need better weather . Prolly finish by Friday. :fingerscrossed:

I filled in the remainder of trenches and holes in the former garden bed I'm finally converting to mow-able grass. Trenches, because it's last use was potatoes, and holes because I topped off raised beds using soil from there. It's not perfectly smooth yet but if it doesn't reach perfect, that's OK.

This will be much nicer when it's done, and I hope, nearly work-free. Just puttering and keeping it mowed. I felt dismayed looking at the thistles that grew there, and they are all gone.

There's still a bit of a soil mound in front, left over from the sidewalk project. I repaired the tractor wagon. It will be so much easier to haul the soil. The front grass will look better with that gone, too.

Sounds like you have done a lot of detail work in order to freshen up your garden and surroundings. The tractor wagon will make many chores much easier. I have two wagons I hook up to my garden tractor and a garden wagon hooks up too, if needed. Resembles something like an odd man’s out , nothing matches sort of a train. It’s always handy and the wagons lifts up from the frame easily to dump heavy loads.

Not sure if the tractor wagon you have is a wagon motorized or a wagon that like mine which is attached to the garden tractor? Either way it gets the job done. :smt023

Daniel— you have been working really hard. Don't over-do it.

We picked for the Food Bank again today. It has been slim pickins’ this year.

Clay beautiful color and excellent shape , not even a smudge.… Green beans amandine, yummy . I am partial to them prepared with lemon juice , black pepper , crumpled bacon bits , baby onions and sliced almonds . They are so much better when you pick them fresh from the garden. What a nice harvest. :smt023

Three bearded iris rhizomes came in the mail today.

    IMG_9417.jpeg

    So I planted them.

    IMG_9421.jpeg

Overall the iris bed looks pretty good, I think.

Keeping my fingers crossed they will do ok next year.

I had a helper, keeping guard against deer, cats, and squirrels.

Clay— Thanks for coming with a name for those wonderful-looking beans. I would ask you about their flavour, but “flavour” is subjective isn’t it. I shall read up on it and put it on a short list. I am already planning for next year here, you see.

I like it that it is a pole bean, for I have gotten away from the bush beans like my colleague Daniel grows. Aside from the fact that I do not want to have to bend or kneel in order to harvest— I do too much low work with cleaning as it is. Haha. But as I was saying; aside from that preference, I like the fun of building bean wigwams and racks. It’s fun for me.
    Thanks again, mate.

Daniel— Congrats on getting those rhizomes in. The iris bed looks good with the chip mulch and ringed with pelargoniums. Mate, you have a talent for making things look beautiful.

I would be remiss if I did not compliment Rufus, standing there looking smart.

DS is home a few days this week from trucking. They sure keep them out on the road a LOT.

He is building my new washline T posts. They are made with treated 4x4s and look good. (those steel posts from Amazon in 2020 are just overpriced junk. I made a small arbor with them for a couple of wild grapevines. They are still wonky and will never stay straight.) DS will also put cut off valves on my kitchen sink pipes. This house is over 100 years old, and needs lots of repairs etc.

I have a lot of cucumbers to use up. I think I will slice them for church tomorrow. And I got a lovely ripe cantelope from the garden this week. I need to pick a few more cucumbers, and I got a few more tomatoes today. There were more elderberries in my reach yesterday, so I picked them too. It is another quart in the freezer. There are 3 nice watermelons on my vines. I hope I get all 3 of them.

I did get almost all of my grass mowed yesterday. I missed a few places and hope to get those today.

I found one of my red salvia plants growing in the grass yesterday and transplanted it to a pot. I thought I had lost all of my blue and red salvias to the cold last winter. Maybe I will find a blue one also?

I pulled beets this morning. I'll be making pickled beets for Christmas gifts this year.
