Pulled up the marigolds along the path and put a lot of compost there for the planting of the wallflowers next week.

Raspberry potatoes, so they have dark pink flesh and some wild purple. The wild purple are deep purple with white marbling through them. If you look close you can see white on the skins of some.

Caught the ground squirrels …California Belding ground squirrels. Ok to trap according to the fish and wildlife regulations. Some squirrels are protected. They have been digging around the weeping cherry tree and around the entire perimeter of the house. Entire garden looks like Swiss cheese. I can finally take a break… until the next couple moves in….now to fill in all the trenches everywhere. Yikes.

I came across a couple of pesky Squirrels digging up our main lawn this morning to bury their nuts/ acorns. It now littered with unsightly holes now...grrrrrr!!!:smt013
Another whole day doing the big tidy up.
Planted out a few Wallflowers in a small border that is all finished with except for some Daffs. that will hopefully go into tomorrow....unless we finally get our long awaited dose of thunder and rain that is.

@Oreti thank you .. the ground squirrels and moles have dug around the roots of the weeping cherry tree so much I will need to replace 4--6” of top soil the roots are exposed.

Oh no not squirrels in your garden too… the acorns will attract them from miles around. I saw a video of how to keep them from climbing the oak trees.

Or white wash the trunks. I might try that too. Water based paints watered down.

I did something similar around the hazelnut trees. I used plastic icecream 5 gallon containers . Used scotch tape to hold them on the tree together by wrapping around the trunks after cutting the bottom out of the containers. Then I sprayed the plastic with cooking oil and sprinkled cayenne pepper over that. Haven’t seen a mess of nuts buried around since . They have climbed on the roof the chipmunks now the other war with Chip and Dale and company. Haven’t seen them around since I applied the plastic to block them from climbing up the trunks yet. The ammonia is also a good way to keep them from getting in the greenhouse. It’s always something.

Finished preparing this border for the wallflowers, put a lot of old compost on but it's going to be rainy this week. They're going in behind the polyanthus.

Well that was an easy fix! I went out and gathered the clothes I had hanging up. It looks like rain. Just in time it's started to rain.
All the gardens look so nice, I'm waiting to see if any more tomatoes ripen before putting mine to bed for the winter.

@willow your raspberries look delicious. Making me crave raspberries. And I can almost smell the oregano.
