Nothing in garden today. Except planting some special lavender variety seeds (Blue Vicenza and Bandera Deep Rose in the sunroom. I don't know if they will grow.

It rained and we went shopping around for a new car. The old one was too low for me get into or out of easily, and some other problems. Also, I didn't like the maintenance expenses and hassles for the hybrid gasoline engine. I want simpler.

It is way too wet and soggy in the PNW to do anything outside today. The last 2 days we have been stuck in an atmospheric river lots of rain .

@Daniel W getting a new car is exciting and stressful at the same time. So many new gadgets and doohickeys. Hope you find the perfect car to fit your needs. Good Luck:fingerscrossed:

Daniel, mate— with yourGerman heritage, I would have thought a VWModel would be the obvious choice. Chuckle.
My VW type is called a “Caddy” and it has the things I need for garden use and personal use. It is larger than a regular auto but smaller than a van.

Pac, thanks for your good wishes. I'm not really a fan of new qizmos. I know I have to go with the flow.

Sjoerd, I don't look for German - made products. I suppose there is quality there. I did have a BMW convertible many years ago. Hate to say it, but it was poorly made, and confusing to operate. My motorcycles and most of my cars have been Japanese-made. All good quality except for the last one.

So far, I like a KIA EV-6 the best. It fits me, comfortable, not too big, is all wheel drive that I need in winter here. Minimal maintenance needed, no oil changes, no spark plugs, no carburetor, etc. It can go 300 miles on a charge. South Korean - made. The reviews look good.

It's hard for me now to get into and out of low cars, but very big ones are difficult too. Plus I can't park the big cars easily.

Back to the garden, I'm hoping to do pruning today if it doesn't rain.

I see what you mean. Well, I was just teasing about German autos, but it is true that my model sits high so I do not have to climb out from down in a hole, so to speak. We planned for the future with this. We are always planning something. Haha.
Good luck with that Kia. I have never heard anything bad about them.

Not much today as it looked like rain and I'm up-to-date.
Did a bit more trimming of the top of the tree in the front garden. I had to walk thirty yards away from it in both directions to see the bits I'd missed. Any branch that was growing vertically, would just "bolt" in the spring.

Spent an hour tidying the shed and the garage.

I'm waiting for the other wisterias' leaves to turn. Then I can start stripping them.

I need to replace one of the several 6ft lateral beams on the pergola on the back of the house, I noticed earlier in the year it's got a bit of rot. I've a length of, 4" x 2" ready for it.

Riley— it’s wet over here as well. Good luck with the Wisteria and beam replacement.

I'm trying to plan the future with this car too. We plan lots of things too. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? I don't.

The KIA sits high enough for me to get in and out easily. Also, being up higher, other cars' headlights aren't so blinding at night. The price and trade in were good, so I bought it.

Today rained cats and dogs. In fact, more than that.

So obviously, no garden work outside today.

Got an electric leaf blower and herding big leaf maple leaves into the far northwest corner of the yard. The bed of leaves is getting bigger than I initially planned. Have three Japanese maple trees to plant in this bed between big evergreens in this part of the yard. The soil is very rocky and dusty dry during the summer. Mushrooms are growing well in the area at the moment. Will see what develops over time.

Daniel— a big congratulations on your Kia, mate.
BTW— I recognise some of the dogs and cats there…and some goldfish. Am I right?

Jewell—I’ll bet that leaf blower is fun to use, right?

@Daniel,congrats on your new Kia. It sounds like a car that fits all your travel needs and more. What color and what are some of the details on your new Kia? Sending good vibes for all your new travel plans in your new Kia. :setc_005:The cats and dogs ….. Excellent design of the raining situation , we made it thru the atmospheric river, fog and the zoo of animals. made me laugh ! Now every time it rains I see your AI zoo in my mind.

@Jewell you have been busy with corralling the fall leaf drop. If it dried out a bit today I need to do the same.
Maples are so pretty this time of year . I wonder what variety your new maples are there are some really pretty new one on the market each are in a special class of their own. Leaf shape , color and size.

@Sjoerd your garden beds looks like the soil is in the best shape & all set to ride out the upcoming winter. The top cover is like frosting on a cake will keep the beds in good shape ready for planting next spring. Great job that’s a lot of work, just beautiful to the eye of any gardener !

@Doghouse Riley all your hard work and maintenance over all the years of care shows in the beautiful fall colors of your gardens, both front and back. Always a joy to see all the different plants you work on thruout the season. Those wisterias are a constant reminder that proper trimming now brings a huge reward next spring.
Sending good vibes to you and your DW and family.

Been weeding the rhubarb border, it had a lot of grass in it and at the back there's a few brambles that need removing but have to wait for the bin to be emptied. What I've pulled up has gone into pile in a corner that's out of the way for the hedgehogs to over winter.

@Logan Ahhh nice that you have piled up a nice winter home for the hedgehogs in your garden.
Grass and blackberry brambles always seems to pop up everywhere around here too. Mostly from the birds .
I will wait til fall has completed before I attack the brambles again. There is always something bugging me that needs to be addressed. Just not always the greatest weather this time of year. Snow will be coming in a few weeks which will change this colorful landscape into a white ‘Winter Land’.

    Thank you @Pacnorwest
I have got 3 nests in the back garden that i made for the hedgehogs as well with bits of cuttings and old plants.
It's been a long time since we had a lot of snow, hardly any at the beginning of this year.
I hope that you'll be ok this year.

I haven't done the brambles this year so hopefully i can dig them out.
