Good morning all, clear sky with frost and light winds temp -1c to 3c Precipitation 0% Sunrise 7.38 Sunset 16.08
Such a clear night last night it was quite bright outside .Frosty start to our day here but hopefully the sun will deal with that. Debate is on as to whether to make the most of the beautiful day and head off out for the morning/ lunch before dropping by th visit my brother.
Early this morning we had a flurry of snow showers, but now it's sunny and a gentle breeze from the north west temp 3c feels like -1c.
The weather here is off the charts: rain, sleet, hail, ice-rain rain with hail, rain with sleet, wet snow…all with stiff wind gusts, blowing the leaves around like confetti at a wedding. It is a great time to be on here, answer e-mails and relax.
Lots of rain here too. It is what I remember from years past and feels normal, but feeding the chickens and bringing them in at night can be a muddy situation. Still, they supply us lots of eggs for very little effort on our part, so it's worth it.
Daniel—That is good that your chooks produce well for you. They must be well and happy. Do you have to treat them with medicines of some kind to keep them healthy and parcite-free?
They have a medicated feed. I haven't seen any parasite problems in a long time. A number of years ago they were sick. I researched it and bought sone medicine which cured them.
An active pattern remains in place this week as multiple systems bring heavy rain, life-threatening flooding, and higher elevation mountain snow to the West . In the West, back-to-back systems from the Pacific and an accompanying strong Atmospheric River will bring waves of very heavy rain and high elevation snow to the Pacific Northwest with the first wave continuing through Wednesday evening into early Thursday and a second wave peaking Thursday night.
Good morning all, partly cloudy and a grass frost and light winds temp -3c to 2c Precipitation 0% Sunrise 7.40 Sunset 16.07
Why oh why did I do all our laundry last night... earlier this week we had 3 days of wall to wall sunshine for yesterday ( we did), today and Friday....I should 've rechecked. Grrrr Fortunately we have a roof overhang on our 3rd smaller patio and can pull out a clothes line there but very much doubt anything will dry today but at least it can air and go out again tomorrow....it's either that or I have to keep traipsing down to the workshop to keep reloading the tumble dryer!!
Daniel—Good to hear. The reason I asked was because a friend here had some chickens and when he died his wife wanted to give them away but they had so many problems with mites and internal parasites they had to be put down. I was surprised that he had not kept on top of their health. Oh well. Oreti— your weather looks exactly like ours today.
Just heading out into the garden to sort out and protect our many Dahlias, despite the cold it has brightened up quite a bit .I don't mind the cold at all so long as it's not windy as well. We have a wet weekend coming up with winds of 50mph on Saturday so things need to be done now out in the garden. Currently 2C( feels like 1C).
