Mel, it's heavy. They had to use a lift truck to get it out of the delivery truck. It's on two wheels and has a handle sort of like a wheel barrow. I can move it out of the garage. That's all that's needed.

It does give a sense of more safety. Country life can have its moments...

And what a lucky dog! Angus knows he is loved, very much.

Tomorrow I have an appointment at the title company, to sign over ownership of the former in-law house. It's been a lot of work and time, but it seems to be coming to a conclusion.

After, I want to go to a Thai restaurant for some curry. That's been the plan to celebrate several other things. I don't like driving into town. Parking is not fun. But as long as I'm there...

Good Monday morning all. Currently -5°C and clear. We've had a few days of flurries, but thankfully no accumulations. Just an hour north of us, they have declared a state of emergency due to heavy snowfall that crippled the highway. I am very thankful that we didn't get that much snow as I have yet to figure out how to operate our plow truck.
The last 9 days have been extremely hard as my family navigates our new life without our husband/father, but life has to go on so I am doing my best to find a new 'normal'. I have always been a woman of routine, and so I need to get back to that.
I canned my garden carrots last night, and that gave me a sense of accomplishment.
Moving one day at a time.

@Netty - I've been thinking of you a lot, and this morning my eye brows popped up when I saw that insane amount of snow in your area of Ontario. That was a LOT of snow. You will master that plough truck when it is time to do so. I'm glad it is not now.

Grief and loss are truly a personal journey with no time line. Putting one foot in front of the other and finding a place to put them every day must be very tiring right now. .

My daughter loves to pickle the garden carrots. I canned a bunch for Angus this fall. I've yet to try her pickled carrots but plan to in the next week or so.

Be gentle and kind to yourself GardenStew Sister. We are here for you. Giant and gentle hugs.

Today I signed a big pile of papers at the title transfer company, downtown. I hope there was nothing in there about selling firstborn children, or souls, but you never know. It was a lot of text and fine print.

    After, I rewarded myself with...

Thai Curry and Spring Rolls. It was also a combined reward for last Veterans Day and a bit surprisingly very good CT scan result, because I don't get into that part of town much. I was a bit disappointed that I like my own peanut sauce better than theirs, and the curry had some sweetness which caused a blood sugar spike (quickly reversed by doing nothing). I wish I was good at making Spring Rolls. And Thai Curry, too. But it was still a treat.

Daniel— good med results, and a great food choice. Too bad about that little sugar spike. Guilty pleasures, eh?
I may have to start calling you “Spike” after this. :)

Good Tuesday morning all. Currenty -5°C and clear. Thankful for another nice weather day.
Had the kids over yesterday, and we went through photos. It was very therapeutic for us all. My middle grandson was still asking where Gramps was. He is 5 and was always interested in what he was doing out in the garage. Today we are meeting with the lawyer, and that should help me get a sense of direction.
Every day seems to get a little bit harder. Deep breath and one step at a time.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -2°C and overcast. We have snow in the forecast again today. There is only a few centimeters on the ground here and for that I am thankful.
Its Thursday again, so that means its errand and shopping day. Not a lot to pickup today, mostly just fresh fruits and veggies and milk.
Have a great day all :)

Thursday and it's put out the nativities day! We have a collection of nativities from around the world, about 30, I think. Yesterday we decorated the mantle server, and I made the centerpiece for the dining room table. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here!
Hope you all have a happy Thursday.

Selling the house was a lot of, "Whew! Now that's done!" followed by "Wait - there's more to do!". But as of yesterday, the title is signed over, the money is transferred, the realtor is paid... It's 100% completed.

Back 24 years ago, when bought that house, it needed a lot of work and updating, which I did over the years. That's why it was affordable. I think all of that was a good investment, and it made for a more comfortable, modern house and brought a good price, appropriate for the neighborhood.

Anyway, it's done. 100%. And I feel a lot better about it.

Meanwhile, "Back on the (2 acre) farm" this am when I awakened it was 26F, even though the app said 31. That made me nervous about the pipes in the well-house freezing. I'm waiting for a plug-in thermostat to come in the mail. I put a space heater into the well house and just left on low. This evening it was 60F in there, so I think that will help. :fingerscrossed:

I also ordered a water warmer for the hens. They do fine with the warm water I bring them early in the morning. But I don't always feel like getting up early and going out into the cold.

Daniel—Congratulations with the finalisation of your house sale business. I can imagine that there were a lot of emotions and experiences attached to the sale.
Having said that, you must feel a great weight off now. Well done you.

Good Friday morning all. Currently -8°C and overcast.
I went to buy a couple of chickens yesterday, for my food prep, but I missed the sale. Instead I bought 2 little turkeys, they were only $8 each! I have one in the oven cooking right now, and it smells amazing in here!
Today is hubbys visitation. Its going to be a rough afternoon.
