I do have a UPS for my computers here in the kitchen. The extender is in my front bedroom, only one outlet in those two rooms (100+ year old house), but it is the only spot where it can pick up the internet signal from my kids.

    found something.jpg

I tried looking up this odd piece of metal online in a picture search. It brought up all kinds of odd things, but not this piece. So, I still have no idea what it is yet. Some of the items brought up were gun parts, but I did not see anything like this.

I worked indoors today, I am still working on the aprons for my friend. I am soooooooooooo slow some days.

I do clean up doggy-do most days.

@Oreti Before your power goes off, you can put some of those reusable ice packs in your freezer and they will help keep things cold. If you have room in your freezer, you could also freeze water in empty juice or milk jugs and put those in the fridge part to keep your foods cold while the power is down. (though I may not be on time?) Don't fill the jugs completely full, leave some room for the ice to expand in your jugs.

If your power company mentioned a time, it might be safe to unplug appliances so they are not damaged by any power surges? Maybe someone is more expert than I am?

I totally get it my dogs don’t like going outside when it’s raining . They are definitely not water dogs. They squint and look around like oh no it’s wet … turn around and race back inside..

Thanks @AAnightowl ....lots of good advice. The same thing happened last year too ...they seem to like to carry out maintenance work at the most inconvenient time!! We had wanted to have a couple of days at home doing last minute things before we go away for Christmas but couldn't stay in all day without electricity so will now have to go out. We'll be without power from 8:30 am until 5:30 pm. We won't open the freezer at all so no worries there...I hope.:fingerscrossed:.

@Oreti if you can cover your freezer with duvets or blankets. Before they start it put the freezer on max for an hour if that's possible.Freezers do go a long time without power.

Nothing today I'm washing my hair this afternoon.

Yes thanks Logan but we're not worried about the freezer at all. It a fairly new one and if unopened it will be even good for a couple of days. More worried about the timing and inconvenience :D.

    Oreti that's ok then.
It's very damp here so can't do much in the garden anyway.

I did a bit this afternoon, more wiring of the acer palmatums and the trunk of the mimosa. There was fine rain in the air, so I couldn't collect leaves as it was too damp. The first of my security lights came on at 2.30pm. So I came in.

    In other news...

I've just had an e-mail to tell me, in my golf club's regular Wednesday Stableford competitions, I came first in my division this week. I was three points better than any of the forty other competitors.

The good news is that I've won £35. (again), It's the third time I've won this year.

The bad news, is that the money gets added to my account at the pro shop. So I'll have to spend it in there. But there's hardly ever anything I want. I'll just let it ride, until hopefully, there's enough to pay for a new driver.

I felt quite pleased with myself as since she came out of hospital and is less mobile than she was before I've cut down the number of times I play a week from three to once, until she improves.

Riley— congrats on your golf accomplishment.

Do you never collect wet leaves? What do you do with your leaves? I am asking because I always wet mine after collecting them. I am just curious.

I use a garden vac, most are from the azaleas now and I'll bin them.

Today I cleaned out the hen house and duck house, and gave them both a fluffy layer of clean straw.

    IMG_0442.jpeg

The old straw went onto two vegetable raised beds. They are ALMOST Sjoerd-like in their mulched tidiness. The others have tree-leaf mulch.

    IMG_0434.jpeg

There remain two more beds (out of seven) to clean up, which is partially done. One needs modification and partial rebuilding. I can work on it until the soil freezes, which isn't yet.

I really enjoyed the outside work.

I also carried most of the strawberry container gardens from the front deck to the vegetable garden. They look sad. If I remember tomorrow, I'll cut off all of the leaves.
