Good work and good decision. Those burrowing baddies are such a nuisance.

But what about that visitor in the tree-line !

You always have some good pics for us.
I hope that you can get that structure back in order soon…but don’t rush it.

I have not gotten much done the last few days. We had some heavy rains and thunderstorms, along with lots of hail sunday night. It sounded like it was raining rocks.

I did however finish the second apron, and can give them to my friend on Sabbath. I am glad that is done.

I did cut back my 2d asparagus bed a few days ago, and today, I hauled a wheelbarrow load of the wood chips to it. It needs another load or two, but it was nearly dark when I did that. I will get at that as soon as I can.

I was going to do some housework today, and never got that far. But sunday, I can start back at the rest of the woodchips and the leaves and other chores. I like to rake them when wet because they stick together and do not get scattered to the wind. I mulch flowerbeds or add them to the compost piles. There are some branches to clean up from the storms, nothing major, but I need to pick them up.

Have a Blessed Christmas in case I am busy outdoors.

Too wet to do any gardening not that there's much to do.
So I found myself a job after I did a load of washing..well..not me..the washing machine and tumble dryer.

I bought this small TV for my wife when she was for a month in the "half way house" for more physio after she left hospital before she came home.
Since she's been home, we haven't really a use for it. So I stuck it in my "office," (box bedroom) upstairs. I'd my old VHS recorder/player and a spare
CD/DVD player, so I connected them both up. There was already an aerial feed and I've an internet connection via an adapter connected to the mains supply. I needed a scart to USB lead for both the old machines as they have no USB sockets.
So they are all up and running.

Not that I'm ever likely to use them much, any more than the spare tuner/amp that's up there too. (I've another on a shelf)

But I have several VHS tapes of film noir that have not yet come round again on TV.

DHR so nice to hear your DW is home for the holidays.
You have fixed up a nice set up for tv , dvd and record collection - which looks quite extensive. I still have all my records from 60’s 70’s 80’s and tapes. I don’t know what the heck to do with cassette tapes or dvd movie tapes. Most are stored away. Memories are attached to those days and more memories to make. Sending holiday blessings good your way and to a happy healthy New Year .

I was going to work on the raised bed renovation. Then after walking Rufus, I just wasn't up to it. So I didn't.

The carnation seedlings germinated at 4 days on the warming mat. I moved them to the LED tray where I already have lavender seedlings. I like carnations foe the fragrance.

Other than that, it's the usual hen and duck care.

Went out to checks the lottie and see if I had caught that pesky rat. We are going to try and grow corn again…but first mr Ratty must go.

Oreti and Daniel— coronations are our favs too…in fact our lievelings bouquet is coronations and Daisies.
It’s crazy, but the Dutch word for coronations is Anjers. Those words do not look alike at all.

Just checking the pastures during sun breaks and no new critters spotted and took some tree trimmings to the
no-burn pile. Several 80’ Doug fir trees along 3 acres of the south side perimeter are limbed up now No areas are hidden for ground critters to sneak in.

Cleaned up mushrooms growing in areas the dogs have access and working on clearing out the wild blackberry invasion from the forest pushing into the pastures and gardens. I put them in a large container with a lid for further collecting later.

The new neighbors were out target shooting which gave me pause worried about my animals. It’s illegal to shoot guns especially since there a place for that just 2 miles away. Hope to put a pause on that behavior I checked with other neighbors who are willing to talk to them and explain the regulations on gun safety and security measures.

It’s dark and only 4pm… Bah-Hum-Bug. Winter solstice. Soon the days will be getting longer .

A bit blustery out there but needs must.....time is fast running out for me to try and restore a bit of order outside. Will continue collecting leaf pile ups that are smothering the emerging bulbs and blooms......because if I don't then they will become guaranteed hiding places for slugs and snails.

Need to opened up the cold frames and check all the plants over and give them all a drop of water, likewise in the greenhouse too.

So cheery to see the bulbs coming up and the Hellebores budding up, friends of ours who live nearby have Daffodils in full bloom, they do every Christmas!!

Everything else is done done now so we are ready to leave first thing tomorrow morning.

If I don't get a chance to look in again just want to wish you all a super holiday.

Thanks so much, Oreti— wishing you the same.

Pac— sorry to hear about those peculiar neighbours. Fingers crossed that they will soon stop, lest some of your animals are injured.
