That is a LOT of HEAVY snow for you Netty. Mind your back. What a good neighbour you have. With his experience and that equipment, I'm sure he will be mindful to make as much room as he can for more to come. How are the city streets and roads keeping up? Maybe not a bad thing to stay home today.

Today, a little at a time, I'm relocating Christmas decorations from all over the house to the living room area. We still don't have enough energy to get the tree down and take the extra loveseat to the storage barn. Maybe tomorrow?? hahaha. We have snow and only -10 at night. It's been a very mild winter. And nothing like Netty's snow this year. ( I'll gladly pass that torch to you Netty, especially because you usually have heavy wet snow in your area).

I made a venison stew yesterday, which will be for lunch today. And some biscuits. And then a wee walk and a movie I think. Enjoy your day everyone. :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -9°C and overcast.
It took all morning to clear the snow out of our driveway. My son and I worked for 2 hours around the house and cars, and around the woodshed. Then my neighbour came with his farm size snowblower and blew out the main driveway to the road. The road wasn't plowed at that point, and the town didn't come clear it until after 3pm. Once they came, I drove to town and did some of my errands and the grocery shopping. By the time I came home, the driveway was blowing in and I have to 'giver' to get back up. This morning I am sure it is blown in again, and I have made arrangements for a pick up for us to get to skating this morning. Weatherman says we could get another 20-40 cm of snow in the next few days. I don't think I've ever felt this stressed out. Oh and my engine light came on in my car on the way home. 2025 isn't starting out great at all.
Well, off to walk the dog and the to the rink.
Have a great day all :)

If I went any slower I'd be in reverse Sjoerd ;-)

Today Santa's and such were put away. The tree will probably be tomorrow. Maybe......

@Netty - You're doing an job of keeping things together and taking things one step at a time You've got this! It's completely understandable that you'd be very stressed. 2025 is definitely off to a rough start.

But look at you wrangling rides to skating, driving through snow drifts and become a snow removal expert all at the same time during a once in a decade snow fall event. I hope Mother Nature and life calms for you soon and gives you time to breath.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently -9°C and snowing. Yes, it is still snowing. Day 4 of snow. It was getting lighter yesterday, and we went out and cleared our way out again. My son shovelled off the back roof and I got the snow off the greenhouse roof. Just as we were thinking it was time for a rest, a squall kicked in and it didn't stop. The winds were howling, and the snow was so thick it was a white out all night long, and it is still going now at 7:30am. Radar currently shows it ending around noon, but the radar image keeps changing. I haven't been outside yet today, I think the sight of the blown in driveway might just make me cry. I took a few pictures the other day, but these images are before another 14 hours of snowfall.

My neighbour coming to my rescue and doing our driveway with his tractor. Now THATS a blower!

And the fun part? I get to do it all again today!
Have a great day all :)

Netty— thanks so much for the piccies. I get a much better understanding of how “de vork in de steel zit”, as we say.
That is a huge amount of snow. Thanks again for the sit rep.

That is indeed quite a turbo-blower!

I was hoping for pictures Netty. My goodness that is a lot of snow! Nice of your son to help clear the snow and do the roof. Those tractor snow blowers are amazing! The only thing I didn't like about the one I used to use was that I had to be turned around backwards all of the time. I used to help clear the 2 km driveway to my then families farm. Talk about a kink in the neck. They are an incredible piece of equipment, that is a good neighbour to have! Hang in there. It has to stop eventually...which must seem like forever right now.

Today the last of the Christmas decorations went away and we reclaimed the living room. All of the wayward spruce needles were sucked up with the shop Vac. We are going to go for a drive to the lake just for a change of scene. We've been home for three weeks now. I'm packing snow shoes encase we can't drive in, but I'm optimistic we will be able to.

Good Monday morning all. Currently -16°C and clear. I am so pleased to say that it is not snowing! It finally stopped just about noon yesterday.
I was just getting dressed up to finally walk the dog yesterday around 8:30am, when I heard a strange noise outside. I looked out to see my neighbor on his giant tractor/blower coming up the driveway. It literally brought tears to my eyes! We had a quick chat, then he was gone to help plow out other people in the neighborhood. When I walked the dog, I noticed that my nearest neighbors were also was snowed in, so I went back to help them dig out. Then I came home and got out my snow blower and moved the vehicles around and tried to make the openings wider, dig out the woodshed, and clear out in front of the garage doors. My nephew came over with his roof rake and helped get some of the snow off the garage roof and then we chatted for a while. By the time I was done and went back inside it was almost dinner time! I had a shower and lay down - I was exhausted! But I felt so accomplished and happy that the snow had stopped, and everything was dug out. What a stressful weekend!!
Today I have a few calls to make, and I might zip into town for some paint so I can continue on the basement project. Or I might not do anything at all, besides head to the rink tonight. I think I deserve a day of rest :)
Edited to add a picture of Thunder in the driveway after we were blown out. The snow bank behind shows how deep the snow was

Netty—Thunder looks so erect and alert. But oh me, oh my— what snow you have !
There is no question that you deserve a day off. Gosh, that was a lot of work…even with help. Chapeau.

Anybody hear lately from @MIKE ALLEN ? He has a rose garden. I think he was having a surgery. Haven't seen him post in a while.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -12°C and windy.
I had a wonderfully uneventful day yesterday! Did a little 'puttering' around the house, took my vehicle in to be looked at (needs a thermostat), did some banking, made some schnitzel for dinner and then headed to the rink. The sun was shining, it was a lovely but cold day. Today, the weatherman calls for cold temperatures and sunshine. I'll take it!
Hoping to get back to my deep cleaning today, and will have to go pick up my vehicle at some point.
Have a great day all :)
