With the colder weather, the herbs are not happy! I've harvested all the annual herbs right down to the dirt and either have them hanging to dry or have chopped and frozen them.
The perennials are on a shelf in the barn, with a plastic cover available for very cold nights.
I'm making my list out for next year (note to self--go easy on the basil!

Sounds like a good plan for protecting herbs and over winter perinneals. I use bubble wrap around patio pots and keep them next to the house under cover protected from frost.

I had some "holy" basil given to me this past season. A friend gave me some of her herbs in trade for some heal all, aka prunella vulgaris.

I have no idea why it is called "holy"... but whatever. I am not a fan of basil, but it can grow anyway. It is a mint and tastes weird in spaghetti. I always use lots of garlic and oregano in my spaghetti.

That friend also gave me some stevia, and a few other herbs. I do have them labeled, but cant remember what at the moment. Oh, one is rue. The internet says that is rather invasive, so I have it in a container and wont let it seed. I think there is another new herb or two, but will have to try and remember what herbs.
