At our previous house we became friendly with the farmer neighbour. His son had multiple problems with Autism, ADHD(?) He collected model animals. He had every sort from aardvark to zebras. The problem was that he used to wander all over the farm and leave his models wherever he went. So I wrote a story about Glenda the Wendle who wended her way through the wood and met up with the animals which he had dropped. He called his models by mixed up names, so I used his versions in the story. So, squirrel became squarrel and badger became budger etc. Feggy Wood actually exists by the way.

Paulustrus— congrats on another book. This one sounds really good. I like the backstory. Interesting name, Feggy, or Fegge. You know that Fegge was the step-father of Hamlet and you can visit his grave in Denmark, right?
Wishing you success with this book.

We did a lot of research into the name of this Wood, but found nothing. It is as far as we can see the only place in Britain with that name.

Palu— interestingly the Danes did come to Britain to set-ip house back in the day, didn’t they.
You see it in words like York (Yorvik) and village names ending in “ by” .

Believe it or not I was born in a town which had strong Viking connections. But there is no record of them reaching this part of Shropshire.
