Same as yesterday and the day before …well you all know the drill. Still plucking tree limbs from their planted positions in the ground from the wind /rain storm. Keeping the pastures free of critters below and above ground. sunny afternoon, managed to get a lot done.

Ok now the entire asphalt driveway is covered in moss again .HELP! Who knew there were so many shades if green. Green color is the star and dominated the gardens for to long. Looking up to blooms of many colors soon. The Hellebores are blooming and other cold weather plants are springing to life once again. Buds on trees and shrubs are forming and soon varied shades of color will burst thru becoming the new stars in the garden leaving green shades minor versions of themselves.

How many days til spring. Who’s counting?
    Thursday, 20th March 2025, 2:02am - Friday, 20th June 2025, 7:43pm. Northern Hemisphere. 21 Days 14 Hours 2 Minutes 40 Seconds. And still counting. :)

@Oreti take it slow on your new shinny knee. Don’t be to hard on yourself things will get done in time. I used to get so anxious too after surgeries , every day new improvement was a giant step to becoming pain free . Ice and rest is your healing friend. Sending healing blessings your way. :smt023

Yes I will Pac ...I promise.:)
It's so very hard though as I'm definitely NOT an indoor person and it's not exactly the weather for being able to sit and relax out in the garden and just enjoy the views unfortunately. Won't be long though.:D

I've had a fair few surgeries myself..this is my 12th, but I have found it very hard this time around with the length of recovery time and ,at times, just not being able to do seemingly simple things for myself. I think I'm too independent and impatient for my own good.;)

Checked over the overwintering Olive tree, Avocado tree and standard Fuchsias that have spent their winter in the garage...now out in a shelter spot for the day to enjoy the sunshine.
In the greenhouse I have trimmed back a couple of potted Bacopa plants.

Replacing 3 old redcurrant bushes with new ones. Just cut the old ones down and started digging them up.

That's meteorological Spring...it places the seasons neatly into 3 monthly boxes that are the same each year.
I prefer to go by Vernal Equinox which is on the 20th March this year ( it can fall between the 19- 21st March) as the dates are more accurate with what is going on way up high in the atmosphere, especially using it when gardening.

It was so nice outside today, I couldn't do everything I wanted to get done! &%#!? old body! But I did get my two newest David Austin roses planted, and moved another to the fenced vegetable garden.

They actually look pretty good to me. I cut a few damaged or rubbing roots. Not much at all.

    IMG_0971.jpeg

I soaked them in rain water for a couple of hours while doing some cooking.

    IMG_0964.jpeg

Then planted in approx. 25 gallon (I think) containers.

    IMG_0974.jpeg

Same as how I did them last year, and those thrived.

They have some tender looking sprouts. I placed them North of a shed for shade and protection, until they acclimate. No hurry with that, and I'll let them tell me when they are ready for sunshine.

Varieties chosen because listed as among the most fragrant. We'll see about that (or smell about that). Desdemona and Munstead Wood.

Today I planted two more 5-foot rows of onion sets. "Inch by inch, row by row Gonna make my garden grow..."

I planted the first couple of lavender starts that I overwintered mostly indoors. Two planted, four to go (plus seedlings).

I moved a daylily to a better location.

Cleaned out a large container to prep for vegetables.

Planted the daylily plants that I bought last month. They will start life in containers. That way I can keep them in the vegetable garden while they are growing, and move them to the patio when they bloom.

Hauled away a gigantic pile of rose prunings. That area needs a lot more work. It's rewarding to see how far it's come during the past week, and encouraging.

Out in the glorious sunshine today soaking up that coveted vitD . No movement from underground critters and no above ground scat in the pastures, garden out buildings.
All clear from the past underground invasion for 10 months since I declared war. Cleaned up the last of the litter from the wind storms. Mowed a few sections of the pastures. The swamp in the lower pasture has decimated.
So nice to be out in the warmth of the sun.

That's a lot of work, Sjoerd!

    I know, I've done a lot similar.

Take care with the back and muscles.

Yesterday was my volunteer day at the school. I cut up tomatoes and students put the seeds in water to ferment.I went to some classes I don't usually go to because the adolescents were on their camping trip. In my usual upper elementary class we planted the second set of seeds. It was so cute, some of the kids were very excited because the grape tomato seeds we planted last week (they were sprouting in the water) were coming up. That school well be over run with tomato plants. But each student, in the classes will get to take some plants home. We planted extra just to be sure.
