I think this combination will be the basis for my next quilt. It will take a while.

I have the stars (diamond shapes) all cut out. The pattern connects them all into a much bigger star, using small triangles. I have to make those before forging ahead.

Also when there are lots of small pieces, I like to stiffen it with starch before cutting them out. I couldn't find starch at the store yesterday, so it will have to wait for the nexy outing.

That's very nice, Daniel. I made a star of Bethlehem quilt for another son's graduation quilt. But I had found a pattern where you start with strips sewn together then cut them at an angle to make the diamonds for the star. I have my older son's quilt fixed and ready to quilt.

I did take off the top row and just moved the border down. 17411139848592146050273041280386.jpg

Minney's telling me there's things on this that I can't get off. She really doesn't like the safety pins. 17411141501484662327050283867039.jpg

Oh wait maybe I can get the from underneath!

Finished cutting the 64 diamonds for the 8 lemoyne stars on the next quilt. I re-did some just to make my life more complicated, I guess.

    IMG_1095.jpeg

These are connected by a sawtooth pattern made from half square triangles. 288 of those are needed. I made about 40 today.

    IMG_1102.jpeg

I also cut the background fabrics into 8 rectangles that each need one more diagonal cut to make 16 triangles.

For the last larger pieces, I have to calculate, measure, and cut a different set of background triangles. I've been procrastinating that because it's complicated. Maybe tomorrow.

Tonorrow I'm going to the county quilt show. That will be interesting.

Daniel …Wow impressive project. Get out your calculator for this one. So many pieces then pinning then sewing. It’s gonna be a stunner when it’s complete.
Have fun at the quilt show .

Cor Daniel - you're still at it aye! It's been a while since I called in to say hello, how many is this now? I don't remember getting my order ;) yes, ok I know I'm being cheeky. Anyway, that's all clever stuff, and well beyond any talent I could possibly muster :setc_089:

Sjoerd, that map was a pattern that I particularly liked. It's kind of a mash- up of atlas maps, so things don't go where you think they should. When it's cut up and sewn as background, it will be even more mixed up...

Some photos from the quilt show. They were impressive, to say the least.

It was like being in an art museum. I actually felt a bit overwhelmed. Fortunately, the quilts at the "Quilts of Valor" booth were more like a home hobbyist could make and be used on a bed or as a lap quilt, by a veteran. I stopped by there and had a talk with the representative. I think my next one will be for them.

It's been while Tetters. Nice to see you!
Yes, still at it. I think I've made about a dozen, a couple to give away. Keep checking your mailbox, and watch for those devious porch pirates!

Daniel— I see. Well, I like maps too and have a couple of old ones.
The quilt show looked so interesting. I went to one once in Rabat, Morocco. It was small, but delightful to see.
What else can you tell about the event?

Good luck with your nrxt one…do us proud, mate.

@Daniel W So many impressive quilts. :smt054 I am speechless… and that doesn’t happen very often. Thank you for sharing.

I am also pleased to know you will share another beautiful quilt with the veterans-Quilts of Valor. So important to never forget them…ever. :)

Some ideas. My DH rode with the Blackhorse 11th Calvary , pilot -1967-1973.
He has joined many other hero’s at the National Willamette Mausoleum 2-11-2025.
