The rain held off enough for me to do carrots, fill the bird feeders and clean and fill the hummingbird feeder.

Good Monday morning all. Currently -3°C and sunny.
Our 'adventure' is finally over. After 8.5 days our power was restored yesterday at exactly 4pm. I came in the back door with an armfull of firewood, DD met me at the door. I looked up and noticed the light was on above us and I said to her "That light is on!" A few seconds later we heard the fireplace fan come on and we just started screaming and jumping up and down with excitement. One of the first things we did was vaccuum lol I feel like we were well prepared... my canned goods were helpful, having a generator and gas on hand, a water filter for drinking water, lots of firewood, a supply of batteries for flashlights and also candles.
I'm very proud of the way we got through this as a family. The kids each assigned themselves jobs to do and did them without hesitation. My son and I were busy with the yard cleanup and my daughter was taking care of household things... meals, keeping the fire going, cleaning etc
It cost me $400 this week for fuel to keep the generator running. It usually only costs us $124 a month for hydro.
I feel like time stood still for 8.5 days, and now I can finally get back to normal everyday life. I had laundry going through the night last night, and ran the dishwasher very early this morning. And just now I had the best shower ever! Now its time to get caught up on all the other everyday tasks.
Have a great day all :)

So happy to hear you are "powered" again, Netty!
It is cold today so again outside work has been put on hold. The bright side is that a lot of inside work that had been put off is getting done! I may do some bread baking, too.
Hope you all have a great day with the lights on!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -8°C and it is a blizzard out there! Strong winds from the North west have been gusting all night. We moved our vehicles just in case the trees are weakened from the previous storms, but so far there doesn't seem to be any problems. We will have to take those trees down before too long.
I spent all day yesterday getting caught up on the laundry and cleaning, and the other vehicle was finally picked up and taken to the garage for brake repairs. I am still waiting for the tree service to come chip all the branches in the yard. There are piles everywhere, and I hope they don't take much longer to come.
Today, I'm doing some bookwork, banking and food prep.
It sure is nice to be getting back to normal.

@Netty I’m with you getting the chipping done is a good thing. I hope the chippers come soon… and I don’t mean Chip and Dale. The other chippers the ones that make mince meat outta logs.

I’m also waiting for a truck to be picked up . I sold it recently and hope it will have a good home with the new owners.

And so much needs to be run thru the house water system a back-wash of the soft water unit is always essential .
I’m not into laundry I consider it a necessary evil but clean clothes is always a Good Thing too. But somebodies gotta do it. Eventually…

As long as there are gardens to maintain I can honestly admit that my thinking is not always rational.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -8°C and clear. Yesterday was a cold and windy day, so I didn't get too much time outside. However, the tree service came (aka my son and the company he works for) and chipped up all the downed branches. The piles were all over my yard, and I was amazed at the small pile of woodchips that resulted. I now have a mostly stickless yard and a pile of mulch! I'll do a final raking and burn the small stuff this weekend and then it will be on to garden cleanup.
Also got a call from the mechanic about my winter car that is in for a brake job ... he found a few other problems that hes going to fix, as well as put on the summer tires. That is 2 jobs off my 'to do' list. The next thing is to get Thunder neutered, I think its time. I love when things get done!
Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -3°C and clear.
Off to work this morning, to get some cleanup done there. Lots of downed trees to clean up, and spring garden cleanup to start. Its weather dependent at this time of year, but it looks like I should get a few days in this week.
DD has a skating assessment tonight. She is testing her Gold artistic, as well as another freeskate. Shes been doing these clean in practice so I hope she will do great in front of a judge.
Its a busy Thursday, so theres no time for errands and shopping today. Maybe tomorrow.
Have a great day all :)

Good Friday morning all. Currently 0°C and light snow.
A successful assessment night, DD passing all 3 of her tests. Shes only got one more to do and then she will have done all the Skate Canada tests they offer. I'm very proud of her and all her hard work and determination. Not a lot of skaters make it this far, and shes the first one in our little club for many years.
Off to work today, one last area with a downed tree around the main building left to do, and then I'll get into leaf raking and garden cleanup.
Have a great day all :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 0°C and overcast. Weatherman says the sun will come out today and it will reach 9°C. I'll take it!
Today is 'Seedy Saturday' at our local Horticultural Society so I'm heading over there shortly. It is like a mini garden show, where you can trade or buy seeds, plants and other garden related things. I'm really not sure what I'm looking for, but I can be guaranteed that I'll be coming home with a new tomato variety or 2 haha
Then, I'd like to get to work out in my gardens, and maybe have a fire to burn the last of the twigs from the storm.
Have a great day all :)
