This promises to be a bumper crop year, if the frost doesn’t strike.

Daniel— I agree. The tree pictured is the ‘Moonlight’…one that you know by another name. How does yours look so far this year?

    Yes, it's "Blushing Delight"

This tree always makes a great crop of healthy, tasty apples.

Here are some of my other apple varieties. I grafted a dozen or so onto highly dwarfing rootstocks, about eight years ago. Lately I walk among them and they make me feel very good, with all of their flowers.

There are also other columnar types at the corners and entrance. All three of the Jaruslav Tupey varieties from the Czech Republic - The one you know as Moonlight, Tasty Red and Golden Treat. I like them all.

I admit I went a bit overboard with starting apple trees. I wanted some easy to grow, easy to manage ones with a long season and special varieties. This winter I thinned out some of the less favorable ones.

Daniel— such a nice posting, this one. You certainly have done well with your apples. Respect.

It is nice to see your columnar trees. They are so ideal for a small garden like mine.

Cheers for the Blushing Delight link. I enjoyed that.

Addendum: my other apple tree, the ‘Schellinkhouter’ is full of blooms this year after having taken a sabbatical last year.

Sjoerd, is there more than one kind of Schellinkhouter?

    http://lionssmulbos.nl/bomen-en-struiken/appelbomen/schellinkhouter-nrs-10-en-33/

The apple pictured in the link has the coloration like Gravenstein. If the flavor is similar, then it must be a delicious apple indeed.

Auto-translation "Good hand apple, found in Schellinkhout in North Holland, which, according to the Handbook of Fruit Cultivation by Prof. Sprenger from the thirties of the last century, also worked well in Groningen." So it must be quite a historic apple cultivar.

Thank you for your kind comment.

Hallo Daniel— I saw the numbers 10 and 33 in the link. I never knew that there were more than one type. BTW— that was a good translation of the paragraph.
I would not call it “delicious”, but it is good.
