S-H, how hot does it get there. Is being near the ocean at least a help? It must be brutal in the Summer if you have the AC on in early April.
My son lives in Florida and air conditioning is run most of the time there. Even in Arizona. I lived in the desert in California and air conditioners were always on . And the last few years climate change has turned my cool summer zone into a hot box with temps above 100F for weeks, which was unheard of in the past.
If the ocean breeze stops in summer, Karachi literally roasts. With temperatures going up to 50°C (which is 122°F). In recent years we've witnessed people falling dead in the streets - Thanks to climate change... You can see my old posts over here at the peak of summer. Just search for my username and the keywords "heat stroke". Yes, most of the time Karachi's climate does resemble that of Miami, hot and very humid. But unlike Florida, it doesn't rain here. So we have blinding sunshine, with hardly any clouds in the sky, (like when Santa Ana winds start blowing in Southern California). Only relief we ever get is during the Monsoon season, when there is constant cloud cover, from June to August. So that's when the temperature comes down to bearable. Even if it doesn't rain, the thick cloud cover brings relief, (and when it does rain, it results in flooding everywhere). So just before the Monsoon season (June to late August) people in the streets start to fall dead. And again between September and early November also. This is how it is in Southern Pakistan, which is no different from the sizzling hot Middle East, sea breeze is the only blessing which sets us apart. In the upper half of the country, which is farmland and forest land. Climate is very different, tilting towards what you guys might consider as normal. While the absolute Northern portions of Pakistan are below freezing all year round. Where it's not uncommon to experience Arctic temperatures.
Honorary Cotton Ball right here. I like my watermelon with a little salt even though I am not supposed to. What do you call shooting a watermelon seed out of your fingers by squeezing tightly? Over here we call it a yeet, and the process is called yeeting.
Beef Seekh-Kabaab rolls. Basically your regular barbequed Seekh-Kabaabs, but rolled in deep fried (and now somewhat crisp) flatbread that's called a Paratha. With onions and sometimes cheese too. Plus chili-garlic flowered ketchup, which I always add. I love adding ketchup to everything. As not only does it taste good, but it also offends a lot of people at the same time, (who otherwise think of themselves as "food purists") - So for me it's a win-win situation! And since my late maternal grandmother also loathed ketchup. Gives me yet another reason to keep using ketchup on everything, and in quantities that would remind everyone of Noah's flood! I hope she gets to see highlights in the afterlife, (in a very warm please where she is spending eternity), of all that I still continue to do over here at the dinner table!
I think it's time to publish an obituary in the newspaper. Of the sad demise of my beloved appetite. It fought bravely, against all odds, but eventually succumbed to this endless heatwave in the city. So no dinner for me anymore, I'll now live on this orange slush. Until I see cooler temperatures with monsoon season rains approaching on the horizon.
Popcorn only, with a little salt, (old school). As I've really lost my appetite, thanks to this heatwave which just won't come to an end.
I got burgers from our pizza place last night. going out again tonight and tomorrow since I'll be having a girl's weekend but not sure where.
