Well the trash to treasure sale was basically a bust. There was some nice stuff, but a little on the pricey side for what I am going to use it for. There was some really nice furniture and dishes, lots of books, etc. I found three pieces of glass for totems, a cookbook, 3 shirts for Richard, two tennis balls for Nibbler and Basil, and some little hard plastic balls for me to spray paint and put half marbles on. But, I had a really fun day anyway. We left there and went and ate, hit a couple of stores and some nurseries. I got a pink variegated sweet potato vine, which my friend paid for, the stinker. It has 3 plants in the pot so I will divide them. I saw some beautiful plants and some to die for garden ornaments. All in all it was a very relaxing fun day.
What a pity the trash to treasurer sale wasn't better. Never mind you seem to have managed to find quite a few things that will be useful. It's nice to have a relaxing day out with friends isn't it?
A pity it didn't live up to expectations Sharon but you do sound like you did come out with a lot of positives from the day. Nice to hear that you bought something for Basil after he had been so naughty recently
I'll bet Basil gets a poisoned tennis ball! But more seriously, did you know that tennis balls are made from a very abrasive material that wears down a dogs teeth if he's a chewer? Silica I believe. I did not realize this until recently. The balls they sell at Petsmart or Petco are better for doggie dentition. muddy P.S. Glad you had a good day!
The day was about having fun, and we did just that. I loved going to the nurseries and looking at everything, no matter that a lot of it was out of reach. We have a nursery called Louisiana Nursery and they have glazed pots big enough to plant a person in. I saw too blue ones I would love to have, but didn't price them. Gosh Muddy, I didn't think about poisoning the tennis ball before I gave it to Basil. LOL And thanks for the info about the silica, I did not know that.
I'm glad you had a very relaxing day .I never heard of a variegated sweet potato vinr how interesting. You did get a few goodies.
Too bad there weren't better deals to be had Sharon. But you got our with a friend and had fun! I've never seen a pink variegated sweet potato vine...sounds great. I'd love to see a picture of that! I had not idea about tennis balls and dogs Muddy! My dog has dozens of tennis balls around the yard, although she doesn't really chew them as much as chase them...should I be worried?
We haven't tried Photobucket since we changed browsers. I will take a pic of the sweet potato vine and try to post it. We also have another variegated one at WalMart, the colorings are very muted and are almost streaked on the leaves, it is hard to explain. I have all of my roses in containers on the south side of my home. I am going to plant the potato vines in containers and let them trail around the rose containers to hide them.
Glad you had a good day out, Sharon. Keep us posted on if the variegated potato vine is as, ummmm, vigorous as the others.
Glad you had a good time. I always grow that pink tater. Those are some of my favorite colors. I love the black one and the chartreuse one also. Enjoy!
Sharon, glad you had a good day out. Sorry the junkin' was not as fun as anticipated. Sometimes I think the sellers are catching on to the gardeners use of junk and jackin' up the prices because of it.
There was a wicker baby carriage and an old lady bought it. $85.00. Ladies on another forum I frequent have bought them for $20 or $25. Of course this was a strictly benefit sale and everything is going to good causes. A cardiac pediatric program, the Rotary Club scholarship fund, and I don't remember the other one now. If I had the extra money I would have come home with several nice pieces of furniture.
