i have recently moved into a new home with a lovely long garden, the garden is made up of four circles about 5ft across, going down the garden every other one being lawn and the ones in between are concrete, now i want to paint them, but i don't know is it worth it, i guess there must be special paint a can get but im sure it with our weather its just going fade and wash away. Was thinking also the possibility of mosaic. Has anyone got any experience with outside concrete paint or mosaicing, any ball park figues or any suggetions to help liven up my concrete circles would be greatful received.

    Cheers,

Hi Muddyboots, welcome to the Stew from north Texas. Please post an introduction of yourself in our Welcome to GardenStew forum so we can get to know each other.

Why were the circles there to begin with do you know? Can you take pictures of them for us, I am having a hard time visualizing them.

There are several members here who do mosaics, they should be along shortly maybe with some ideas.

Do you have a local home improvement type store that might sell concret stain/paint? They could give you an idea of cost and how the product will hold up in your area.
But it does sound like there could be some interesting possible solutions as to what to do with them.

Welcome! I've seen paints especially made for concrete surfaces, and also stains that you can stencil designs with on your concrete (which might be a very pretty effect). Another option would be treating them like little round patios and putting a nice tall urn/fountain/tall plant in the center of one and a little bistro table at the other. 8) Maybe one of those little enclosed firepits? You could then pull up chairs around the edge of the circle.

Wow, sounds like the former owners were "Homefront in the Garden" fanatics, lucky you! Yes, do keep checking back, we have some wonderful mosaicists onsite here. And you'll definitely want to know all you can about concrete painting so it stays looking nice for a long time.

Hi and welcome from New Orleans, Louisiana.
Just remember that once you paint concrete, you will paint it again and again. There are overlays/patterns that can be put on top of concrete, but they are a thin layer poured on top of the existing and pretty pricey.

Thank you all so much for your reponses, i've only just logged in again, so i'll check out all your links now. I'll try and get a photo in the next few days so you can have a better idea of my circles. Think im going to be torn between paint and mosaicists.
