Have any of you ever found a good organic cure for blackspot and rust on roses? I've used mixes and sprays to good effect, but if there's something that naturally retards fungal problems without hurting the roses, it would be good to know. The only other cure I'm aware of is the very time-intensive practice of having to pick off all of the infected leaves and clean them up from the ground around the plant too - though in my case I've had the blackspot showing up pretty badly on the stems themselves at times so I don't know if that would contain it.
I am just shooting blindly... we have serious problems in our wet winters with blackspot on the aloes. The best we tried so far is elemental sulphar. I do not know if that would qualify as "organic". ?
It's not organic, but the best thing I have found is a product called Bayer 3 in 1 Systematic for roses. It treats blackspot and other diseases, feeds and controls insects. I get it in the WalMart garden center. You treat every six weeks during the active growing season.
black spot Your subscript on rainy days is too good. I often feel guilty about my housework. It rains too little over here. Thanks for the tip. No use for me. Too expensive to order outside south africa, but all is well. We will try our best with what is available.
srry i don't know much about roses, but I would like to share a little story. A friend told me of a guy who gave a recipe. The funny thing is that you have to paint the formula on every top, bottom, and crevice on the whole plant. good luck trying to do that. :-?
