I am having a problem with bugs eating small holes in my hosta leaves, the problem is I cant seem to see any insects on them, so I am not sure what to use to eliminate the problem. Any Suggestions ?
I think your problem is probably slugs K9 as they love hostas. Here's a website that might help you out: http://www.robharvey.com/pest-control/slug-control.htm
I have hostas too and the first year was a pain with slugs and snails. look for a slimy trail on the ground or on the leaves. if it is slugs then they will be feeding at night. I always found them around 10:00, almost on the dot, slowly trudging toward the leaves. slug bait does wonders, as most baits do. But the absolute best way to get rid of slugs is beer. put a small pan or jar lid full of beer in the garden and if you have slugs then they will go for it. it sounds odd but is true. One of my gardening friends in my neighborhood hates drinking beer but keeps a case of it for gardening purposes.
