I have a friend that swears by kitty litter~the old clay kind. (not used :D )
And I have used that for a few years but thought I would get a 2nd opinion since I was getting ready to plant a few new ponds plants>
    What is everyone else using??

I use an organic pond plant soil that I buy from specialist pond centres. I've never thought to try kitty litter but I don't see why it shouldn't work well as it's certainly heavy enough for the purpose.

Yes, you can use the old style kitty litter, it works really well.
My first attempt I used" clumping" litter, what a mess I got into,!!!!

My pond building friend recomends rocks and that is what I always use. Just a cheap bag of pebbly rocks from wallmart. When you put the plant in you put the fertilizer tabs right in. This keeps any soilborne diseases out and is super easy. My plants are as big and lush as ever with this method. :)
