It's such a strange year this year with the late freeze. My spring blooming clematis are blooming 2' off the ground, LOL. My first shasta daisy "weed". They pop up everywhere. Hubby extended my boardwalk to the back door for Mother's Day. 8) Hard to see, but only pic I have right now.
Very pretty clematis. We have a couple. They don't get very big but one is covered with buds right now. Hope we don't get a frost.
Great pictures. The Clematis is beautiful. Funny, I have never thought of the Shasta Daisy as a weed but I hear a lot of people do. I have a couple of pots of them I really need to get into the ground.
It looks great PL, I love the area in the last picture. I wish I had weeds as lovely as the Shasta Daisy.
I'll trade my bindweed and dandelions for you shasta . Your boardwalk looks really good w/ your bridge and pond.
Thanks for the kind comments everyone... Bindweed, got plenty of that wreaking havoc here too! I fight the battle but our entire neighborhood is overrun with the stuff, so I've given up on complete eradication.
Oh I just love Clematis Pianolady! I think I may have lost my Duchess of Edinburgh this year but I keep hoping that it will re sprout from the bottom. Keeping my fingers crossed! Shasta Daisy's are like a weed here too, but I like them alot. I just have to be ruthless with the volunteers. Bindweed, Ground Ivy and Vetch are my enemies!
Everything looks just wonderful. :-D Hubby's a keeper he did a great job on the boardwalk, the whole pond area is lovely.
dr ruppel clematis My dr. ruppel Clematis looked just like this but was a bit taller....it had taken me 3 years to get it that healthy/flowering. Yesterday the lawn guy (a new one) took his weed-wacker to the base of its trellis and whacked the main branch completely off! all the purple giant blooms were DEAD and limp when I got home and I went thru the roof. He says he'll replace it but how can he really? It took forever to get it to grow 2 feet! A new one...I have to start over. aaaaaaaaaah :'(
AAAaaarrrggg! I hate it when that happens! I think I have my hubby so paranoid, he is scared of me when he weedwhack, and is extra careful after he got an ear full one time. Go ahead and have them replace it, then you'll have two when your old one recovers!
dr ruppel clematis-weed wacker smiling..I wish I could make my lawn guy fear me like that! Thanks for your post and advice.
Just got one! I just planted the same clematis the other day! Now that I've seen yours I am so glad I did. I am hoping to train it up the lattice under our deck, but I thought it grew "9 feet" according to the tag? I guess not huh .
