Hi. My wife and I recently bought a home. It has pink toilet, sink, and shower. What color can we paint the walls to minimize the pink? We have added purple shower drapes and towels. Was purple correct to minimize the pink? Thanks. Mike
I've seen bathrooms with the retro pink fixtures, it actually looks really good accented in soft green, especially with a couple of botanical rose prints in silver frames on the walls. If you can get your hands on a color wheel, like from the art section of a craft store, and find your pink shade on that wheel, then go directly across you will find the soft green I mean. Or, study the information usually printed all over a good color wheel, you can get some fantastic combinations using a 3-color scheme. Best of luck to you!
A dark mauve or deep red might be neat. I found this pic that looked interesting. http://www.adhika.com/en/visite_sdb.php I second the idea with the green too, that would look very nice.
I agree with Critter Painter the soft green would look really good. I, personally, don't like purple with pink as you can get different shades. Blue purple would clash too much and red purple, in my opinion, is just too strong a colour to take the eye away from the pink. If you don't fancy green then go for a neutral shade and highlight it with green or red accents.
There is special paint to use on tubs and sinks and tile that I would use. Save a lot of time and trouble since I don't care for pink at all.
Have you considered painting some designs on each of the items? maybe some vines? it might take your eyes off the "pink' more. My mom completely changed my grandmas bathroom by painting the bath tub. (Of course it was a white old cast iron one. ) But it was such a improvement. SOO beautiful!) Maybe you could stencil some ivy or vines w/flowers. Just a thought.
A friend of mine has a retro bathroom with all pink fixtures and grey and pink ceramic tiles. The walls are gray and it looks great.
I would've gone with a medium tan/brown color personally. With feminine color like pink i would match it with a neutral or a more manly colour.
