Does anyone know how to get the ants off peonies before bringing them indoors?

I would try spraying them lightly with the hose.
I've noticed this year that the yellow jackets are REALLY attracted to my peonies. Has anyone else noticed such a thing?

I have not seen a yellow jacket yet this year, but I have more ants on mine than usual Deanna. Strange!

I have never seen a peony without ants. Seem to go together. Shake them? Spray them? Dooley

Maybe it is just an old saying but I thought the ants on peonies helped open them up. Wannabe

Haven't seen any yellow jackets here in NJ. I've tried cutting the peonies and dipping them in water to force the ants up and out. But I seem to remember there is a better trick???
